Key notes from Peter Burns interview

  • There is no doubt about it, five wins in a row for the Aggies over Arkansas is huge. We’ve said it all week, this game is basically everything for Sumlin and it means a whole lot for Bret at Arkansas as well. Two guys that had a really hot start when they first arrived at their programs, but now are facing the hot seat. The Aggie defense has to take advantage of this weak Arkansas offensive line. Austin Allen might be one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, but that offensive line is horrible.

  • It’s similar with Felipe Franks at Florida, when you lose your top receiver and running back, it’s hard to look really good. Dan Enos, the Arkansas offensive coordinator, has to find a way to move the football, I just don’t know if there’s anything there. This should be six in a row for A&M over Arkansas. This is a good team, you don’t go on the road and put 44 points on UCLA as an awful team. They just have to go out there and show that they have moved on from that loss.

  • That just goes to show we don’t know what were talking about at media days with Mississippi State being one of the top teams in the conference. I’m good friends with Mullen and he knows they won't be picked first, so he says just pick us last so we have the chip on our shoulder. Jeffrey Simmons, the Mississippi State defensive lineman, is very disruptive, one of the best defensive lineman in the country. I just don’t know if Mississippi State can go in between the hedges and take down Georgia on the road, that’s going to be a tall task.

  • I absolutely think Vanderbilt can keep it close at Alabama. You know that defense is going to be good under Derek Mason and he could force Jalen Hurts into some bad decisions. Here’s the thing though, Alabama just has too much depth and will win out at the end of the game. But this game is not worth the 19-point spread, I think Vanderbilt keeps it close, maybe a around a 14-point victory for the Crimson Tide.

  • I think Kentucky beats Florida on Saturday night. That win over South Carolina was so big for their program. They knew they needed a big win after a slow start to the season and they did that with a big road win in Columbia. There is just nothing about Florida’s offense that gives me confidence that they can score points. They are one Hail Mary and blown coverage away from being 1-2 on the season.
