Did he take any responsibility for cratering in November the last few years? Ok, call me when he does.
I like mullets, and bourbon whiskey..

Actually he did. You should watch it - he wasn't his typical pain in the ass self with the media. I've been critical of Sumlin, but if he can maintain his composure and address the problems, he just might be able to pull it out

Have to give him credit for a good press conference. Now he must deliver

One thing I can say is that at least he has in some way tried to address problems with the team as they come up. He's had some damn curves thrown his way with players doing stupid stuff and getting kicked off the team that were needed.(mainly LB's) On down to the prima donna's and alcohol problems with QB's. A&M during Sumlins whole tenure has had some kind of drama that wasnt Sumlins fault. A&M could do damn well worse, and they have, (see the Fraud) than having Sumlin as coach. To win in the SEC you have to have almost uncanny seasons with personnel and survive the injury bug. A&M since Johnny has had neither.

If A&M ever gets away from having distractions, drama and key injuries, they just might surprise everyone. One thing I can say is that when someone messes up, he doesnt pull a Saban or Big game Bob... they are usually gone. Gotta give him that much.

How is it not Sumlin's fault?!?!

He sets the tone for the program. He recruits the players. If he isn't recruiting high character players all the time - that's on him.

It's like saying a manager is not responsible for their employees. Of course they are.

He's the one who's had all the resources, made all the decisions, etc. Ultimately, results are all on him.

Which is why most fans are frustrated because he hasn't been accountable, nor outwardly had his players be accountable (I.e. JFF in his time here).

Oh, I think he's being held accountable. More than the fans know - somebody talked to him about his attitude with the media. He was NOT the same coach in the presser today.

Still, he needs to win. He knows it, and we know it. I lost track of the times "November" was mentioned during his conference today

You don't control what your employees do after work. That's up to them. I'm on the fence about ks. I think a lot of our problems are his fault ( Kyle Allen/Alabama debacle is all his) and some aren't ( kyler prima Donna issues ). Injuries hurt us last year. I'm actually thinking he pulls it off this year. I called it from the beginning we beat LSU this year. Let's see how 2017 plays out then do what's best for Aggie football

Now someone like Zoo would have been upset if Sumlin told Kyler to hit the road and go to Texas if you want. You can never please everyone. It will never cease to amaze me how so many folks on this site know just who to recruit, what plays to call and how to run a program...but damn it they decided to sell cars instead.

Yea, there is a different vibe coming from Sumlin. You see it a lot when people get cornered. Some people freak out and start lashing out and attacking. Others calmly look at the situation and figure out a plan to get out. Sometimes the plan works, other times maybe not. But the guy that calmly makes an assessment of the situation and follows a plan is generally better suited for success.

I think Sumlin has laid out his plan and will work calmly and deliberately through the plan and see how successful he is.

9 wins and Sumlin gets another year. If his approach works, which if we win 9 games I think it is clear that the approach worked, he has a very bright future in the next couple of years.

My only real question mark is Mazzone. Can he create an offensive momentum with one of the three qb's on campus? I guess we may find out this November.

If Sumlin can find the 2011 version of himself, we'll all be better off.

Mazzone has had a pretty good track record with QBs - even young ones. Hopefully that trend continues.

Let me first say I am not a Sumlin hater or really a huge Sumlin backer. The HC is a position that has to find the staff that works best with the players and themselves, once you find that really good guy how can you not let him leave to take the better job for himself? It is rough, and as some of you will agree there are things that go on that none of you ever considered or ever thought of. It is a volatile job to say the least. This being said in 2012 Sumlin had one coach that understood and could talk to one of his best players and try and keep him within a system that would let said player use his skill set. This was KIngsbury, and Johnny was his QB. Kingsbury was a quarterback also not very long ago, everything that a QB has to do and should do at what time...without Kingsbury we go nowhere. I would venture to say Kingsbury had more to do with our winning in 2012 than any other coach.
Good coaches know how to coach. Great coaches know how to make their players more successful. I think we have some coaches left on this team that should not be here. But I dont think Sumlin cuts them loose since he cannot get the person he wants. It is tough my friends, the movers do it at risk of family and friends and so on. It is a mercenary way of life for a long time.

He seemed a littlest touchy about his weight! It was a legit question after he said this is informal and let's just talk.
The reporter was being nice. He looks good.
