At Colonel Campbell's funeral at Arlingon National Cemetery, Cathy Campbell read aloud a letter she had written to her late father. In it, she told him of the love and respect Aggies had shown their family. "We were embraced and folded into the Aggie family," she wrote.

The Association of Former Students is deeply honored that the Campbell family allowed us to document their father's final journey in the short film "Colonel Campbell's Final Flight." Although none of the Campbell children attended Texas A&M, they each demonstrate enormous strength of character and have an abiding respect for the school that their father loved. We are honored to know them and proud to have them as part of the Aggie family.

We remain in touch with the Campbell family, and we will share with them the comments posted here along with the rest of the outpouring of love and well-wishes our reporting has generated among the Aggie Network.

Stories like those of Colonel William Campbell '52 remind us what today is really about. As you enjoy the Memorial Day holiday, please take a moment to remember those like Bill Campbell who gave all in service to their country, and all their families who still live with that sacrifice daily, including the families of the 1,611 still unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.
