Texas A&M (32-3, 9-2 SEC) sent the McNeese State Cowgirls (25-12, 11-1 SLC) riding back to Louisiana with a loss. The Ags defeated the Cowgirls, 10-3, in a midweek contest Wednesday at the Aggie Softball Complex.

McNeese State took an early lead, scoring two in the second inning and one in the third. Then Aggie Tori Vidales, a junior from Le Porte, blasted her eighth home run of the season over the left side, scoring three and tying the game, 3-3.

A call to the pen didn’t stop the Aggies, who continued to plate three more in the bottom of the frame. Back-to-back singles and a Cowgirl fielding error scored runners, extending the Aggie lead.

The bullpen shut down the Cowgirls' opportunity to score in the top of the fourth. Then, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the frame, Kristen Cuyos drew a free pass, walking in Vidales before Sarah Hudek drove in Kaitlyn Alderink on a sac fly.

McNeese State looked for hope in another pitching change but it didn't help. Samantha Show stepped up to the plate and drew another walk, scoring Riley Sartain. A sac fly from Erica Russell plated the final runner of the contest.

Texas A&M takes the field next in a three-game series against Oklahoma State University at the Aggie Softball Complex beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m.
