Watch Anthony's commitment and an interview with Plano East Senior High head coach Joey McCullough.

Jason: Jason Howell, TexAgs.com here with the newest Texas A&M commitment, Anthony Hines. Anthony you had a number of scholarship opportunities. What was it that separated the Aggies for you?

Hines: It was definitely my relationship with coach Chavis. He’s been recruiting me since he was at LSU when I was in the 8th grade, so it was really a no-brainer there. That’s the best relationship I have with a coach.

Jason: You’ve had a chance to get out and see a lot of places, what always stood out to you about the atmosphere in Aggieland?

Hines: The 12th man is real there. Just being in the stadium, you can only really describe it if you’ve been there; it’s insane, those fans. A good instance I can relate it to is, you know, the fans shouting at Josh Rosen, "50,000!" or something like that. Just a moment like that -- the fans are alive and they’re in unison and they’re passionate.

Jason: Now when did you know you were going to commit to the Aggies?

Hines: 10 o’clock. 10 a.m. this morning.

Jason: And what did you do when you realized that decision?

Hines: You know, I thought on it and I prayed on it, and you know it turned out that my initial beliefs were true. It was really tough to turn down guys like TCU and UCLA. They were...I’m talking the last 10 hours I’ve been switching back and forth between the two, imagining every single different instance and simulation that could happen, and finally I came to a decision and it’s a solid decision that I’m sticking with.

Jason: Any chance anybody makes any in homes or anything next week?

Hines: I heard that coach Herman is going to try to come. That’s what I’ve heard.

Jason: So you may have a few, but you say you’re sticking. How important is it for you -- you’ve mentioned before that you weren’t going to announce if you weren’t ready. How important is it to you to make this decision and stick with it?

Hines: You know it’s a big decision and it would really degrade the importance of this moment if I was just out here to just say a school then end up switching. If I’m committing to a school then I’m planning to stay there.

Jason: And you said 10 o’clock things just kind of clicked. Was there anything that happened at 10 o’clock or did it just -- was there peace that just came over you or anything?

Hines: I’m going to be honest to you, I was stressing so hard that I actually didn’t even sleep last night. I couldn’t even go to my first two class periods. I couldn’t possibly focus on anything else but this decision, and it kind of came together right at the perfect time.

Jason: How relieved are you?

Hines: Extremely relieved, extremely relieved, it’s been a long process. And it’s funny because it started in 5th grade, so I started a little earlier than everybody else, so it was more tiresome to me. Each year I got less and less involved, and for it to finally be over and to be with a great school like A&M it’s awesome.

Jason: And what are you most looking forward to about your days up there?

Hines: Ballin' out. I want to make a name for myself and I want to do it early, and I just want to build with that team and coach Chavis and coach Sumlin, and just -- national championship is the goal, as always.

Jason: Well thank you so much Anthony, congratulations on your decision. I know everybody here is looking forward to watching you as you move on to the next level.
