Key notes from Billy Kennedy interview

• We are close to being 6-0, but we weren’t ready to be 6-0.  Our team got better this week playing that UCLA team.  We were able to find out some things that we needed to get better at and we played three good teams this weekend.  We made some big time shots and some big time plays, but they were just better than us in the end.
  
  
• I would have liked to have gone on the road a week later, but we needed it.  We find out the most about our teams in games, not in practice.  When you play top-20 opponents like Virginia Tech and UCLA you learn a lot about your team.
  
  
• First, I learned that our guard play is good enough to win games, we just need experience.  We knew our front line was good, but the addition of Robert Williams has been huge.  He can do it on offense and on defense.  But all in all, we are really inexperienced.  We can be really good and bad at times as well.
  
  
• We knew Robert was talented and I knew he would be talented.  I didn’t know he was fearless and not afraid.  He is more mature than I thought he would be and he always carries a smile on him face.
  
  
• I hope our relentlessness will carry us, we will need it.  Every night in the SEC is going to be a battle and our tough non-conference schedule will be as well.  We have got to have everyone ready to play because we don’t have a lot of margin for error.
  
  
• There were a lot of good things that came from the UCLA game.  I knew they were good, but I did not know how good Lonzo Ball was.  He looks like one of those one and done types.  This UCLA team looks like some of those old UCLA teams that used to play.  We found out that we can play with anybody, we just have to get better in a hurry and that is what we are trying to do.
  
  
• One, people are making it hard for us to get it into Tyler.  Two, Tyler has got to help himself.  When he gets tired, he gets a little less aggressive.  He kind of has the Shaq thing from a few years ago ...  He gets fouled on every play but he doesn’t get the call on every play.  He has worked really hard on his free throws, but he knows he has to do better in that.
  
  
• We got a good week of practice this week to get better at some things.  We are looking forward to getting better in our zone and better offensively.  We played a few different lineups that we haven’t used much and haven’t even really practiced so we will keep looking into that.
