Aggie volleyball extends winning streak to seven, sweeps Georgia, 3-0
The Texas A&M volleyball team took on the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. In an attempt to move their winning streak to seven matchtes, the Aggies entered the final game of their homestand on a high note.
The last time these two teams battled it out, it went the distance to five sets. This time, the outcome was the exact opposite. The Aggies dominated most of the match, winning the match 3-0 and each set by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-16. The story of this match was the overall focus on the task at hand, which could not be overlooked.
Hollann Hans led the team with 12 kills and a more impressive zero errors.
Ashlie Reasor was close behind with 10 kills, and Kiara McGee added seven kills to the mix.
Kaitlyn Blake had six kills while also adding 5 blocks on the defensive side.
Georgia came in with a record of 13-13 and a conference record of 1-12, good for last in the SEC standings, but as a team, the Aggies were not looking for excuses in this one.
"A lot of times the coaches don't even mention what a team's record is," said senior Victoria Arenas. "We know what happened last match, and we just set higher goals for ourselves this match. We focus on our side of the court."
The focus was evident as the Aggies dominated almost all facets of the game. They had 11 team blocks compared to Georgia's five. They had 46 kills, whereas Georgia had 36. The Aggies also produced 44 assists, led by Stephanie Aiple who had 31, moving her into sixth on A&M's all-time assists record book. Georgia had 35 assists on the afternoon.
The story of the afternoon was the Ags' attacking offense. Hollann Hans led the team with 12 kills and a more impressive zero errors. Ashlie Reasor was close behind with 10 kills, and Kiara McGee added seven kills to the mix.

"Hollann just has a special way that she is able to focus and be resilient and consistent," said head coach Laurie Corbelli. "She almost makes a mistake, and it is like it never happened, which is a good quality to have in volleyball. When she works at it, she is even better, but she normally doesn't even have to work at it."
Let us not forget that the Aggies came in to the match riding a six-match winning streak, a streak in which they have only lost a combined four games. With the streak now at seven matches, they will see a challenge this week as they take on Tennessee and No. 24 Kentucky, both on the road.
"It was good to be home for a little bit. It was good to get back on our feet, but we are away for the next two matches," said senior Ashlie Reasor. "I think our mental game has increased so much, and I think people can tell with how we are playing. If we make an error, we are fixing it right after that. This is a good week for us to be away and take it to these teams."
With the victory, the Aggies moved to 18-7 overall and improved their conference record to 12-2. They will travel to Knoxville and take on Tennessee on November 16th for another opportunity to extend their streak.
