Softball: #15 Texas A&M Drops Game 1 vs #4 Alabama, 8-3
After being swept by Tennessee in Knoxville, the Aggies returned home in search of a much needed win.
To this point in the season, A&M's home field advantage had been just that; racking up a 21-2 record in College Station, while struggling to the mark of 2-7 on the road. All that was supposed to give A&M an antidote for its recent woes, instead, #4 Alabama came out ahead by a score of 8-3 in game one.

A&M drew blood first in the bottom of the first inning by scoring a run, but that would be the Aggies last real threat until the fourth. From there on it was Alabama and the homerun ball. The Crimson Tide scored seven runs in the top of the second inning, and were held there until they added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Alabama hit three homeruns on the evening, with one of them being a Grand Slam.

Texas A&M struggled to put any pressure on the Crimson Tide after the first inning. All told, the Aggies could muster just four hits on the night.
While Samantha Show did clobber a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, that would prove to be all the offense A&M could stir up. Put simply, A&M just couldn't string together enough hits to make Alabama sweat.

RHP Samantha Show started in the circle for the Aggies and pitched the entire game. Contrary to the score, Show didn't pitch all that bad. Alabama was just able to utilize the long ball with runners on base. Show settled in and was hitting her spots, but Alabama stayed disciplined in their approach, making things difficult for Show. She moved to a record of 18-7 on the season after tonight's loss.
On the Alabama side, RHP Sydney Littlejohn was able to keep the Aggies off balance and didn't allow them to settle into a rhythm.

After tonight's match-up, A&M moved to an overall record of 31-10 and 5-8 in the SEC. Alabama is now 37-7 and 9-4 in SEC play. The Aggies are looking to bounce back after a four-game losing streak and take game two. The coaches will meet later tonight to decide if they want to play a doubleheader on Saturday due to weather.
