Aggie Softball Hunting Season Cut Short Against #2 Oregon Ducks
The Texas A&M softball team hosted the #2 ranked Oregon Ducks today, falling 5-1.
Shortstop Kristen Cuyos demonstrated great decision-making in the first inning, throwing the ball to first for the final out and leaving the Ducks scoreless.
Oregon hit a bomb over the right field fence in the second inning, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
In the third inning, freshman Tori Vidales hit a single scoring home run, her third of the season, to tie the game.
The Aggie defense proved itself in the fourth, when a ball hit toward Cuyos turned a double play, leaving the score at a standstill.
The Aggies threatened to tie the game once again when Alex Masek, pinch-running for Breanna Dozier, made it to third base. Reagan Boenker struck out, however, dashing the Aggies' hopes.
The Ducks took over in the seventh inning, scoring three runs. Rachel Fox stepped off the mound for the maroon and white to let Katie Marks take over, but it was too late for the Aggies. The damage was already done.
The bottom of the seventh passed quickly, as Brittany Clopton, April Ryan and Vidales went down in order to give the Ducks the 5-1 victory.
The Aggies will be on the road this weekend to Cathedral City, California, to compete in the Mary Nutter Classic.
