Prime 21 Camp Thread (Post Camp Thoughts, Recruiting Notes, Primer, and Highlights)
Post Camp Thoughts-The Texas QB talent in 2021 is flat out nasty. Behren Morton Dematrius Davis Garrett Nussmeier all showed very well on the day and caught my attention at different points during the camp.-The LBs really jumped out to me. Derrick Harris Jr is making a strong case to be my favorite all-around LB in Texas for 2021. Love the frame, the length, his quickness, and ability against the run and in coverage. He is a stud. Clayton Smith is more of an OLB/edge guy in my mind but he showed he could do some damage in coverage. 2022 Kobie McKinzie is a name to remember and while Jordan Crook has a compact build he is stout, smart, and quick. -FL WR Mario Williams and Allen WR Bryson Green made some highlight reel plays in one-on-ones. It didn't matter what DBs did those two made plays. Isaiah Brevard had a strong showing in 7-on-7 action. J Michael Sturdivant turned plenty of heads with his play. He's a fluid runner with size. Jaedon Wilson started off slow, but picked things up nicely. His route running kept DBs off balance throughout the day. Armani Winfield was also a standout. He just makes it look effortless. As for Skyline WR and Texas commit Quaydarius Davis, he was really good as well. His hands were a little inconsistent, but he brings the swagger, and physical play and speed to the table that is undeniable. He also tries to get a little too cute when he feels like things are too easy and I think that's part of what happened yesterday.-When it came to DBs the names Hunter Washington Jimmy Wyrick and Kavian Gaither kept popping up. All three were in lock down mode throughout the day. I also liked what I saw from Ishmael Ibraheem. At S JD Coffey has added some nice weight and plays with great instincts, and Kaine Williams is an enforcer on the back end. A new name to keep an eye on is Cy Ranch S Romario Noel. His size and physical play were two things that jumped out to me. ***********Recruiting NotesNew Caney LB Derrick Harris Jr - 2021-Texas A&M, Texas, Miami, and Baylor are schools that stand out right now. -the family feeling at A&M stood out.-Coach Peveto will coach you and tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.-He will be at the A&M BBQ on Friday.Galena Park North Shore QB Dematrius Davis - 2021-Florida State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Baylor standout right now.-The great offense and Jimbo Fisher being there long term make A&M stand out.-He will visit LSU (July 25), Baylor and Texas A&M (July 26), Baylor (July 27), Georgia, Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Clemson.-He plans to wait until around October to make a decision so he can talk to coaches early in the fall and find out more about their interest.Marrero (LA) John Ehret S Kaine Williams - 2021-LSU, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Florida were a few schools he said have his attention right now.-the facilities, the school, and the coaches stand out about the Aggies-He visited College Station in the spring, it was his first trip, and he said it felt like he was still in Louisiana-No trips plannedSeffner (FL) Armwood WR Agiye Hall - 2021-named his top 12 and they're the teams who pass the ball, put people in the NFL, and have coaches he feels he can trust.-Clemson, Georgia, and Florida were a few schools that stood out from his spring trips.-When it comes to Texas A&M, Jimbo Fisher is his guy and he is building that relationship. -Coach Fisher is cool and he knows what he is talking about.-OU, Texas, LSU, and USC visits are on his schedule, and he plans to visit Texas A&M and LSU during his bye week this fall.Cibolo Steele DB Kaleb Higgins - 2022-Camped at Texas and Texas A&M-How the Aggies greeted him really caught his attention-He likes how close it is to home, that they're in the SEC, and that they throw the ball.-He will visit A&M for the BBQ July 26, he will visit OU for their BBQ.Southaven (MS) WR Isaiah Brevard - Three Things: Out of state 'draft board' and future names to watch
Every Friday Jason Howell locks in on three recruiting thoughts, and today he builds his personal draft board for the prospects the Aggies are pursuing outside of Texas. He also adds some names to watch in future years who haven't quite cracked the rankings.

TexAgs.com Texas High School football thread
It's that time again. I'm out at West Mesquite/Denton Ryan to see several top prospect. Texas A&M commit Dylan Wright leads West Mesquite. The Wranglers also have 2020 RB Ty Jordan and 2021 ATH JaKobe Walton. Ryan has OU 2020 commit Drew Sanders. I look for Sanders to play LB. The Raiders also have 2021s WR Billy Bowman Jr, RB Ke'ori Hicks, and TE Ja'tavion Sanders We're in a lightning delay, and it is looking pretty ugly outside. Hopefully Hop and Brauny are having better luck.

A few thoughts from my Texas High School Football weekend
A few thoughts from the weekend that included the following gamesThursday - Garland Lakeview Centennial at Arlington SeguinFriday - Duncanville vs LancasterSaturday - West Mesquite vs Hutto in Waco- Camar Wheaton lived up to the billing - Friday was my first time getting to see Wheaton in person, and man, did he ever live up to his billing as one of the top 2021s in the state. I cannot wait for you guys to see the highlight reel from Friday because he had a few runs that were pretty special. He has the goods and will be a highly sought after recruit. You can bet the likes of Alabama and Georgia will be taking a long look before it is all said and done, and it sounds like the Aggies are paying close attention.-Saturday was a tough day for Dylan Wright but there's nothing to worry about - It was a hard one for Wright, but I didn't see anything that made me worried we about his talent. He is a special player and he has a tremendous upside. There is not another WR that is the physical specimen Wright is. Every ball thrown his way was contested and much of what he saw was short and across the middle. He really didn't get many opportunities downfield, but he did show the ability to get behind the defense. He also came around to take a couple of handoffs, and he had a key block to spring a teammate on a 41-yard TD catch and run. His day got off to a rough start but he did finish with 6 receptions for 62 yards and a TD, and he had two carries for 17 yards. -Keep an eye on JaKobe Walton - West Mesquite 2021 DB Kobe Walton had himself a very nice day. He played defense, offense, and special teams for the Wranglers. His biggest play of the day was his 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and he also had a 31-yard TD run for the Wranglers final score of the day. This is a guy I've been hearing quite a bit about and he is already on college radars. He camped at Texas A&M this summer.-JD Thursby came to play - I did not go into Friday's Duncanville-Lancaster game with an eye on Duncanville 2021 LB/S JD Thursby (5-11, 175) but he quickly made his presence known. He had a few plays which jumped out to me. 1.) he came in on a blitz and the OL made a smart play and let Thursby's speed run him out of the play. The problem was Thursby did not give up and ended up chasing down the QB from behind and was about to jump in on a tackle before the QB stepped out of bounds for a short gain. 2.) he came up to deliver a big hit on a screen pass to the wide side of the field. He shot the gap and he laid the wood. Now, he is undersized for an LB, but I have a feeling he is going to be a fun player to watch over the next few years. It also says a lot that he is out there on the field for coach Samples as a sophomore.-I really liked what I saw from Ja'Quinden Jackson - Duncanville 2020 ATH Ja'Quinden Jackson made some nice plays on Friday night. We knew he could make plays with his legs, but he looked like he made some improvements as a passer too. He was more consistent with his accuracy and you could tell there was some good chemistry between him and his WRs. - Marquez Beason seems to have settled in nicely at Duncanville - He has not been there long, but he found his way into the mix on offense, defense, and special teams. He rotated in at CB and his speed and quickness were on full display. He did try to do a little too much at times, and by that I mean he tried get too creative with his running but that's about the biggest adjustment he'll have to make.-Lancaster really didn't try to push Chris Thompson - it was a pretty quiet night for him. He did have a nice PBU and he was around the ball most of the night. -Hutto is going to be fun to watch this fall - Chase Griffin, Chux Nwabuko, and Caleb Forrest were some playmaking fools on Saturday. Griffin was on target all game long. Nwabuko is small, but he is as explosive and elusive a player as there is in the state. And Caleb Forrest had several big returns including a 94-yard kickoff return for a score. Forrest also had 7 receptions for 71 yards and a TD.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
