Early Signing Period 2017: Class recap
It's been a whirlwind on the recruiting trail for newly minted A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher with the early signing period. With eight signees already official, TexAgs' David Sandhop looks at the targets still on the board.

Keep an eye on Luke Ford
The nation's number 1 HS TE Luke Ford out of Carterville (IL) included the Aggies in his top 5 recently, and I was told yesterday it looked good for Texas A&M to get a visit. Well, we all know how quick things can change with this recruiting stuff. I'm hearing Georgia now actually has a great shot to land Ford in the early signing period now. The Bulldogs had a monster day yesterday and may get richer today.

A few Sunday recruiting quick hitters
- Jordan Moore and Joshua Moore saw their outstanding HS careers come to an end Friday night. They told me after the game they planned on driving up to College Station yesterday, but the weather and their season ending was a deterrent. They did not make it up. However, if anybody was worried about Jordan and Arkansas (a guy covering the Hogs went on Twitter last week and said they had a great shot at landing Josh then flipping Jordan), you can put those worries to bed. Jordan will sign his LOI with Texas A&M Wednesday morning. As for Josh, I do still think there's a chance he lands in College Station with his brother, but as you'd expect, the chips would have to fall a certain way with other guys. - Naperville (IL) TE Luke Ford picked up an A&M offer last night. To add to what Looch said in yesterday's thread, I've been given word this offer is a big one for the nation's top HS tight end. In fact, I've heard from two sources early this morning that the Aggies are now amongst Ford's favorites. He wants to play in the SEC, and if the Aggies are going to pull off this huge coup, they're going to have to trade blows with some of the best teams and programs in America. - 2019 Houston North Forest OL Javonne Shepherd released his top schools yesterday. After speaking with a source with knowledge of the situation, it sounds like the Ags are the clear team to beat. Tom Herman and the Longhorns present the biggest threat from what I'm told. https://twitter.com/javonneshepherd/status/942224134309924864- In case you missed it, Boling ATH Vernon Jackson is on campus unofficially this weekend, and we continue to hear positive stuff on A&M's chances to keep the Alabama commit in the Lone Star State.

A new name to tuck away
Carterville (IL) TE Luke Ford is a guy to watch. I've been told there is interest and a good chance an official visit occurs. If that visit does occur I wouldn't expect it to take place until after New Years though. Right now there's a lot of talk of Georgia and Alabama, Texas is also in the mix as well as Auburn. Fisher offered while at FSU, and there is a relationship that extends back to Tallahassee.

More Monday night notes
I know there's been a lot of different recruiting threads, but that's the nature of the beast right now. We are getting stuff coming in right and left. Here's the latest...Chase Lane tells me Coach Fisher is coming by to see the St Pius guys on Wednesday. We've heard top WR target Terrace Marshall has had a couple of conversations with the Aggies new head man came away feeling good about what's happening in College Station. I still feel like LSU's the play here, but the gap has certainly narrowed. Seems like Marshall and Jaylen Waddle are both much more realistic than they were a week ago.Spoke to a source with knowledge of how things went between Leon O'Neal and Coach Fisher tonight. Fisher made sure Leon knew he was wanted in Aggieland. I'm hearing Leon plans to be in College Station the weekend of Jan 13-15th. That's also the same weekend the early enrollees move in. In terms of QBs, there's stuff circulating about long time commit Cade Fortin looking around at other schools. Fortin wasn't recruited by Fisher at Florida St. There's also been some talk about highly rated Georgia QB commit Justin Fields, and he is a guy that took a liking to Jimbo while he was at Florida St. With Bulldog freshman QB Jake Fromm having an outstanding first campaign in Athens, there could be mutual interest between Fields, Fisher, and the Aggies. It'll be interesting to watch the QB situation unfold as Coach Fisher begins to work. 9:55 update Cade Fortin has decommittedWe've also heard that while he remains firmly committed to Michigan, the Aggies are likely to kick the tires on Mustapha Muhammad again as the search for a TE continues. Some more names that could fit into that role are Boling big man Vernon Jackson and a pair of JUCO guys in Dominick Wood-Anderson and Jace Sternberger from Northeast Oklahoma JC. Edited to add Luke Ford to the TE list. See Jason's note.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
