IMG thoughts and notes from Battle on the Border
QB Kellen Mond had another very strong performance as he led the Ascenders to a big win, and you could not wipe the smile off of LB Santino Marchiol's face. Mond made quick, sound decisions and threw the ball with accuracy. He did not take as many big hits as we saw him take against Grayson a few weeks ago on national TV and it looks like things are really coming together for him and his receivers. He did damage with his feet and his arm and IMG put this one out of reach fairly early.Marchiol made his 2016 debut and he hit the ground running. He was all over the field making plays. He dropped into coverage, he came down on blitzes. He quickly diagnosed plays and he made sure tackles. After the game he had a huge smile on his face and it was easy to see he was excited to be back.FWIW, Marchiol did say he felt good about the Aggie's chances to land Anthony Hines. Like Hines, Marchiol was in town for the home opener against UCLA and the two have a bit of a history together. 2018 running back Asa Martin had a solid night. He's a guy who has seen a few offers come through in the last week with LSU being one of them. A few A&M coaches are expected by IMG next week so it wouldn't surprise me if Martin gets their attention. 2017 OL Cesar Ruiz recently added an offer from Texas A&M and he has been in communication with coach Turner and had both Kellen and Santino in his ear recruiting him. Yesterday he got a taste of Whataburger and it is safe to say he liked it. "it was different. It wasn't no McDonalds. That burger was special."He's not sure about a visit to Texas A&M yet. He already has four visits scheduled right now - Oklahoma (Dec. 3) , Michigan (Oct. 1), North Carolina (Sept. 24), and Florida (Oct. 15).

2017 OL offer goes out - I caught up with Ruiz for a few quick comments
IMG Academy OL Cesar Ruiz tweeted he received an offer from Texas A&M today.************I caught up with Ruiz for a few quick questionsHe told me he does not have an official visit scheduled to Texas A&M. I'm not saying he won't take an official visit to Texas A&M, but when I asked him if he had an official visit scheduled to Texas A&M he replied "No sir."As for an unofficial visit Ruiz said if his schedule allows it he will try to take an unofficial visit.Right now he can't determine if A&M would make his list of favorites yet. However, he did say he thinks A&M is a good school. My Take: This offer definitely makes some sense. He's regarded as one of, if not the, top centers in the country. When Creed Humphrey chose elsewhere Ruiz was a natural next option. It definitely helps the Aggies that he plays with Mond and Marchiol too. This one is going to take some work, but it makes sense and he's going to have a couple of Aggies in his ear throughout the rest of the process.https://twitter.com/_OverCees/status/773956650717876225http://www.hudl.com/video/3/3341489/5721d46790eead5d90dc3353

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
