Quick FNL visitor update
Either Jason or myself will put out the full list later this week because I know y'all have been getting visitor names in pieces, but I just figured I'd throw in a couple more top prospects that are expected/trying to make it in. IMG WR Joshua Moore CySprings S Leon O'Neal 2019 Stafford WR Jalen Curry 2020 Navasota OL Jordan Jefferson (commit)There's also a chance the trio of Mustapha Muhammad, Chad Bailey, and 2019 Nelson Ceasar from Ft Bend Ridge Point all make the trip, but that hasn't been finalized yet. Lastly, I've heard some stuff about Jordan Moore working to bring his entire 7-on-7 team (FAST Houston) with him. That would include O'Neal plus some other solid players like Taye Barber, Sterling Galban, and Brennan Eagles.

Monday notes (Dead period & underclassmen)
January 11th marks the end of the winter dead period for all FBS schools. That means coaches will be back in-home and in-person to see prospects as the final push toward National Signing Day begins. For the A&M staff, that means getting back in to see top defensive targets like Austin Westlake LB Levi Jones, Katy DT Corey Bethley, and probably Houston Christian DT Joshua Rogers. Bethley and Rogers are planned visitors this month while the A&M staff is working hard to persuade Levi to take a trip to Aggieland before Signing Day. Changing tunes to some underclass info, I was out at the Team Texas Elite 7 on 7 tryouts yesterday in south Houston. There were about 50 kids at the tryout, but the ones I focused on were 2019 St Pius QB Grant Gunnell, 2018 Alief Taylor WR Brennan Eagles, 2018 CyCreek WR Miles Battle, and 2019 Strake Jesuit TE TJ Gordon. Gunnell told me the only junior day visit he's got lined up is the one later this month at A&M, and I would go ahead and call the Aggies the leader at this point based on the conversation we had. There's going to be a case made for Gunnell to be the top QB in the country in that class. Eagles doesn't have an A&M offer yet, but he thinks it's very close. He says he stays in continuous communication with A&M, and they've spoken about an offer. Eagles is on the top end of a loaded 2018 WR group. He showed up wearing an Oklahoma St jacket then took it off to workout in an Ohio St shirt. Reading into stuff like that at this point though is useless. I'd be surprised if Eagles doesn't make it to one of A&M's Junior Days. Miles Battle just picked up an Arkansas offer and continues to be one of the smoothest route runners in Houston. He says he's had a little contact with A&M lately but not a ton. The biggest knock on him right now is his speed. If he can test better in the 40 on the upcoming spring circuit, you could see his stock really rise. Not too much to report on Strake Jesuit's TJ Gordon right now. It's early, but he did say the A&M staff reached through his school, and there is interest. He's a big boy already (6-5, 225). Another 2018 WR of note out there was Burnet's Sterling Galban. He's small, but he has great feet. I don't think he's an A&M guy, but somebody will get a football player. Lastly, I wouldn't expect a huge, long list for that first junior day. I think you'll see A&M bring in a smaller group of first tier targets. They'll save the others for the second 2018-2020 weekend.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
