Elliott Baker update
-Interesting that Elliot Baker is visiting Georgia this weekend after already checking out A&M. Word I'm hearing is that Kevin Sumlin did not conduct the previously scheduled in-house on Wednesday night and, as I mentioned earlier in the week, the Ags are likely to back out of the JUCO offensive tackle market while shifting the focus to landing perhaps one more offensive lineman from the high school ranks.I think this is as simple as Baker being a 280-pounder who, in all reality, would probably need a redshirt season before being able to play in the SEC. If that's in fact the case, it appears the Ags have decided they'd rather add one more high school prospect to the fold...one who they also believe will be ready to roll in 2018, only with three more years of eligibility after that as opposed to just one. Will be interesting to see if Baker sticks with Bama (and perhaps even the other way around) or if he lands at UGA or elsewhere but it's safe to assume that the Ags have decided to look in another direction.-Sumlin, Terry Price and Jeff Banks did go in-house with Addison Gumbs as scheduled and, by all accounts, the visit went exceptionally well. As of late Thursday evening, the four-star OU commit was still planning to visit College Station with his parents this weekend. As I've said on more than one occasion, the Ags were once thought to be very close landing Gumbs before he chose the Sooners and then were rumored to be close to flipping him early this fall. We'll monitor this very important recruitment tomorrow and see if the pass-rushing end actually gets on the plane or not but folks on the A&M side are cautiously optimistic following a very productive in-house.-While I'd still be mildly surprised if it actually happens this weekend, my sources expressed a high level of confidence when it comes to the Ags' chances of flipping Beaumont Westbrook OL and recent Jim Turner offer Dan Moore following his official this weekend.-As most of you saw on twitter this evening, the most noteworthy in-house of Thursday evening was John Chavis and David Turner going in-house with Epsicopal DT Marvin Wilson. The state's No. 1-ranked prospect is closing in on rounding out his official visit schedule (he has two remaining) and the Ags still look like LSU's primary competitor here, thanks to the tireless efforts of Chavis and Wilson's would-be position coach.

Offer, developments along the OL
Don't be surprised to see the Aggies change course down the stretch and decide to pursue a fifth high school OL rather than chase a JUCO tackle. Contrary to what many believe, Jim Turner actually feels pretty good about what he has to work with at tackle next year and, especially, in 2018 and beyond. The Ags are trying to get a lot bigger and more physical in the offensive trenches and they've got that coming in with 310-pound Jarred Hocker, 320-pounder Adrian Wolford, a 6-6, 285-pound (and growing rapidly) tackle in Carson Green and 305-pounder Grayson Reed. Along those lines, Turner made a move tonight on Beaumont West Brook's Dan Moore. The 6-5, 315-pound road grader is currently committed to Oklahoma State - a program that the Aggies have made a recent habit of frustrating on the recruiting front - and is also close to being offered by Tom Herman and the Longhorns.Brauny will follow up with the Golden Triangle big man tonight or tomorrow to see how realistic the Ags' chances are here. He's a guard who has the frame to play tackle if that's where a team needs him. From a frame standpoint, think Jarvis Harrison here.At this point, I think it would take someone really big (as in a 315-pound tackle...Elliot Baker is currently coming in right around 280) and really good in order for Turner and the Aggies to go the JC route because they're looking for instant-impact only types at this point and I'm not sure how many there are out there who are uncommitted.

In-house update (Sumlin)
I know Brauny and Howell are keeping you guys up-to-date on where the Aggie coaches have been visiting of late but just wanted to make a separate post on this one.On Wednesday, Kevin Sumlin will visit the West Coast to see Addison Gumbs and Alabama commit Elliot Baker in person before heading to Colorado for his in-house with Santino Marchiol.

Thursday Night Thoughts (Recruiting Edition)
1. We'll get the full story on Friday, as Noel Mazzone was scheduled to speak with Jarrett Stidham this evening, one day after Kevin Sumlin met with Kellen Mond's parents and Mazzone met with Mond in Florida. However, based on everything I've heard throughout the week, my expectation is that we'll hear that the Aggies have decided to sit out the Stidham Sweepstakes, which paves the way for the former Stephenville Yellowjacket and Baylor Bear to end up at either Auburn or Florida (and probably Auburn). The obvious question you're all typing into the reply box as I type is 'Why?' While the Ags would probably love to have Stidham, Mond, fellow 2016 commit Connor Blumrick and Nick Starkel on campus next fall, the bottom line is that the Aggies clearly like where they're at enough to not want to jeopardize the Mond - Jhamon Ausbon - Hezekiah Jones trifecta and Mazzone feels good about what the Ags have coming in with Mond and Blumrick to go along with what's on campus. And that's what I think many A&M message board posters are having a hard time understanding. I've said since this summer that program insiders believe Nick Starkel has tremendous upside potential and an All-American arm. Most believe he'll be ready to step in as a starter as a redshirt freshman next fall and, believe it or not, he has similar skills as a passer to Stidham. Whether you agree or disagree, this seems to be the direction the Aggies are taking, knowing everything they know about what's on campus, what's coming in and what the one-time Baylor starter brings to the table. If anything changes here tomorrow, we'll let you guys know as it happens.2. Travis Etienne Jr is choosing between A&M, Tennessee and Oregon tomorrow. The Ducks don't have a head coach and Butch Jones is on very rocky footing in Rocky Top. The real question at this point is whether or not the Aggies intend to even take a second tailback at this point if it's not Ohio State commit JK Dobbins. Personally, I think Etienne is too good a talent to turn away but the fact of the matter is that the Aggies are fighting a numbers crunch with pressing needs still existing along the defensive line, at linebacker and for at least one more o-lineman and cornerback if they can get Kendall Sheffield (more on that in a moment). My feeling is that if Etienne, who has already decommitted from A&M once, fully convinces the Aggie coaches he's shutting things down for good, he'll have a spot if he wants to choose the Ags over Tennessee. Anything short of that and I'm just not sure it's worth the risk.3. Don't rule out the Aggies with San Francisco City College offensive lineman Elliot Baker. The 6-7, 290-pounder is still committed to Alabama but his recent official visit to College Station has the Ags very much in the mix. Insiders believe that Baker's desire to step right in and play and not risk sitting out next fall as a redshirt is something working heavily in A&M's favor. The key to making a real run at pulling off a rare flip from Bama (who actually do lose commits every year, most often due to playing time concerns) is for the Ags to win over Baker's family, as the lineman appears open to the move. Jim Turner is really grinding away on this one, as he's made this particular recruitment his baby.4. Not much has changed on the inside, where Episcopal's Marvin Wilson and Houston Christian's Joshua Rogers both hosted Aggie coaches (including David Turner) in-home this week. Katy's Corey Bethley is still considered a priority target to the A&M coaches and the Ags continue to chip away at a guy who isn't likely to decide until January. The feeling here is that Rogers could fall the way of the Maroon & White if they decided to make a furious push but I'm not sure that has quite happened as of yet. The feeling inside of Bright is that the Aggies NEED one more DT but would love nothing more than to land Bethley or Rogers and then pull off the late steal with Marvin Wilson (who I still believe is a significant longshot for A&M despite the fact he's considering the Ags, USC and LSU for his final two officials.5. Many of you wondered what all of the twitter buzz coming from many of the Ags' 2017 commits a couple of days ago was all about. As Brauny said, confidence is currently growing that A&M could flip California pass-rusher Addison Gumbs from Oklahoma. While there is good reason for optimism, this has happened on at least two occasions prior and nothing has come of it. Gumbs is scheduled to be in town next weekend for his official visit. If he makes it in and his parents make the trip with him, there's an excellent chance the Ags make this one happen. Again, insiders are particularly optimistic here...even more so than what turned out to be false alarms earlier in the process. Make no mistake, Addison is what you'd call the highest of priority targets for A&M's defensive staff, as they clearly view the 6-4, 225-pound edge rusher as a potential difference-maker off the edge.6. The Ags have been working hard to gain momentum with Austin Westlake LB Levi Jones and have managed to do just that over the course of the past month or so. While many believe Jones will land at LSU when all is said and done, some very close to his recruitment actually think the Ags will ultimately keep the four-star 'backer in state. I'm still a little skeptical but there's no denying the fact that A&M is making a strong push here and have a real shot.7. I'm not sure exactly where Cisco defensive end Micheal Clemons rates on the Ags' Big Board but do feel comfortable saying he's way up there near the top. The A&M staff knows that they need immediate help in the form of a plug-and-play pass-rusher in the worst way and this is still the most likely get for the Ags. What once seemed like a foregone conclusion is now anything but. Clemons - who has considered ending the process in favor of the Aggies at least twice during the past month - is now drawing interest from LSU to go along with offers from Ole Miss and Arkansas. Still like the Ags' chances here. 8. Kevin Sumlin conducted his in-home with Kendall Sheffield this week and the former five-star recruit will be in town next weekend for his final official visit. Sheffield tripped to Ohio State last weekend and the Buckeyes are a player, which should surprise no one considering his high-profile recruitment the first time around. There has always seemed to be a lot of misinformation coming from the Sheffield camp and it's up to those who hear that information whether or not they want to report it without confirming what's said. For example, the rumor the first time around was that Sumlin talked to Sheffield only a couple of times over the phone during his recruitment, which could not have been further from the truth. Sumlin and Terry Joseph have been working this particular recruitment extremely hard but there are no guarantees it will be enough with Ohio State and TCU in the picture. Sheffield will visit Fort Worth this weekend and I'm here to tell you that counting the Horned Frogs out of this one would not be wise because Gary Patterson and his staff are pretty sneaky and tend to play hardball late in head-to-head recruitments when they're battling with the Aggies and Longhorns late. However, as we enter this weekend, Urban Meyer - who was at Blinn this week - and the Buckeyes look like the biggest threat, with LSU curiously snooping around.9. An interesting 2019 offer to Port Neches-Groves quarterback Roschon Johnson. The 6-0, 180-pounder is a guy who Brauny has been very high on longer than anyone in the business. Noel Mazzone and the Aggies obviously share that intrigue with an offer that literally came out of nowhere and was Johnson's first from a D1 program. Ryan will share a few more thoughts tomorrow. It's still insanely early in the 2019 process, but I'll go out on a limb and say that Mazzone lands either Johnson or Houston standout Grant Gunnell before the start of next season.10. And finally, Plano East LB Anthony Hines will announce his decision tomorrow at noon and will be really choosing between A&M, TCU and Florida, with Penn State also still worth mentioning. The reality here is that we're probably talking about an Aggie-Horned Frog battle. Gary Patterson made his last-second push during a Thursday night in-house with the national top-10 linebacker and did enough to muddy things up but sources I spoke to tonight still believe Hines will choose the Ags during the highly-anticipated Friday announcement. Stay tuned, as this one is as important a prospect as A&M has left on the board. John Chavis has been working hard on this one since he arrived in College Station and that relationship is exactly why most signs point to Hines joining Chief in Aggieland.

Cover Story: Texas A&M hits recruiting trail, moves past painful finish
It's safe to say that the month of November didn't go how anybody in the Bright Complex wanted it to, but the Aggies can't dwell on that. The focus now is the upcoming bowl game and the 2017 signing class, both of which could have a major impact next season.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
