Around the SEC: Georgia leads conference to strong 2018 finish
As always the Southeastern Conference did well on the recruiting trail in 2018, but there was a bit of a shake-up at the top of the league rankings. Jason Howell dives into the hits, misses and wild stories from National Signing Day.
On Jalen Preston
Posted most of this in the UA All American game preview thread, but I figured I'd go ahead and consolidate it here.Preston arrived in Orlando and spoke with some of my colleagues who were gracious enough to do an interview with him and send it our way. Preston said Arkansas, Florida, Texas, and Ole Miss were all pushing him for a visit. He said the only official he's got scheduled so far though is to A&M on either the Jan 13th or Jan 20th weekend. Outside of that, he said Arkansas and Florida may get visits. He said the draw to Florida goes back to pee wee football when he and Brian Johnson played for a team called the Gators. They had talked about playing for Florida back then. His QB this week in Orlando is Emory Jones as well, a Florida signee. When asked how solid he was to A&M, his response was: "I'd say I'm 80% solid until I go up there for my official visit and actually meet with the whole new staff. I've spoken to them on the phone but getting that one on one connection will put me back at 100%."In knowing Jalen and his inner circle the way I do, I'll be keeping an eye on those other visits. Since he's talking about them, it means they're getting legitimate looks. I do not think that anything is set in stone though, and he could completely shut things down after his official to College Station.
