Here's some more JUCO recruiting info just for you guys
I'm bringing some news out of Mississippi. I talked to a few people out that way and it sounds like things could get hot on the JC front.Copiah-Lincoln (Co-Lin) CC defensive lineman Tyree Owens camped at Texas A&M this summer and was offered after a strong performance. He is a DT prospect at 6-5, 290 and he is a December grad. He is scheduled to visit Texas A&M the weekend of Oct. 7. You may recognize that weekend because A&M is hosting several prospects on official visits that weekend. I'm hearing the Aggies currently look like the favorite to land Owens. He will visit Auburn this weekend and the Tigers are probably the biggest threat right now. Coach David Turner is the leading A&M's recruiting efforts with OwensCo-Lin's Joe Anderson is a prospect we've talked about and the buzz I'm hearing right now is A&M and Houston. Joe could end up being a Dec grad and is being recruited as a DT. He's currently 6-6, 300, and it looks like he's going to play his college ball in Texas. He has a visit scheduled to Iowa State and another to Houston. If LSU comes in and offers they could be one to watch - Joe is originally from Louisiana - but it looks like they're locked in on Buggs and that's it. Anderson doesn't have an official visit schedule to Texas A&M right now, but he is a candidate for the Oct. 7 weekend.Another prospect to watch out of Co-Lin is big receiver Datrin Guyton. He is 6-4, 190 pounds and he is originally from Manor, Texas. He doesn't hold an offer, but he has plenty of ability. With ties to Texas and A&M looking for big receivers this one could be a nice fit before it's all said and done.

Notes of a few JUCO prospects
The same names keep emerging across the defensive front when looking at the Ags JUCO targets there. As Jason pointed out, Joe Anderson is looking to make his way to campus. Michael Clemons (originally from Sachse) at Cisco JC is another name to keep an eye on. There has been a little chatter around a pair of EMCC guys - Rasool Clemons and Tim Bonner - but as of now, all it's been is chatter. Kendall Sheffield was once thought to be a sure fire A&M signee a couple years back coming out of HS. He surprised a lot of folks by signing with Alabama. After a year in Tuscaloosa, he's back at Blinn JC where he's having a nice early season for the Bucs. I spoke to a source very close to the Blinn program that said Sheffield has his eyes on the Aggies once again. If the academic side of things (not a knock on Sheffield - things can sometimes be tricky regarding transferable hours) holds up, Texas A&M looks to again be in a great position to land the talented corner. I'm planning a trip out to Blinn soon to talk with Sheffield to get his take. Lastly, many of you have been talking/asking about Tren'Davian Di c kson of Navasota. I spoke to several sources in Grimes County today that said Tren is indeed looking at junior college options. How soon will he try and find a place to play? I don't know. You'd think he'd wait to try and save a year of eligibility, but he could want to get back on the field as quickly as he can. A possible landing spot could be Trinity Valley where his former HS QB Shelton Eppler is playing. From what I understand though, it sounds like many schools, including A&M, are taking a wait and see approach with Tren as of now.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
