409: Texas A&M making an important impression in Southeast Texas
Bayous, swamps, refineries and Friday night lights all define daily life in Southeast Texas, especially the latter. With the region continuing to produce top prospects, the Aggies have established strong connections and recently found major success.
A few more notes on the weekend
-As Looch mentioned, there's a lot of buzz surrounding West Rusk DE Tyree Wilson. I was told his trip to College Station was exceptional and that he measured in north of 6-5, 230 pounds. Simply put, there's not many DE's in the state in the 2018 class built like that. Wilson also ran really well at A&M's camp last week. The 40 times I got were 4.68 and 4.7...that's some real athleticism. -No Joseph Ossai or Jalen Preston yesterday, but, like Billy, I've also been told by multiple sources that it doesn't affect the Aggies' standing for either prospect. If you're asking me today, I believe both will choose A&M. One source explained to me that Ossai was still adamant about the Aggies being out front, and A&M has a wave rolling in Manvel that has Preston feeling the Maroon & White. -In speaking to some southeast Texas sources, 2017 signee Keynel McZeal has not made it to campus, but there is nothing to worry about. He will be here for the second summer session. There was an academic/clerical misunderstanding in terms of what he needed to enroll in the first summer session. I fully expect McZeal to be in College Station this summer. -I had another source echo the Ags' chances with Louisiana WR Terrace Marshall. In fact, the way it was described to me was that A&M had "the most legitimate chance" to pull him out of state. -There's been some small murmurs about Keller Timber Creek WR Erik Ezukanma and A&M as well. We will try and run that down to get more info as what I got this morning was sporadic and not real concrete. - Max Wright and Colten Blanton both had fantastic trips. These two are becoming really close and are working hard to add to this class.
