Rivals Camp News and Notes
On Sunday, Rivals held one of their regional camps in Houston, Texas at C.E. King High School and it turned out to be one of the more stacked camps I've been to in my time at TexAgs. The UC Report does a really good job at evaluating recruits for these invite-only events and it makes for some great content on our end. Over the course of the event, I was able to speak to multiple in-state Aggie offers and targets and was able to gather some nice intel. I want to start with the only Aggie commit in attendance, Cy Falls EDGE Kaden McCarty who really impressed over the course of the day. He looked athletic and agile going through position drills and held his own during one-on-ones. There was some noise circling around that Texas had turned up the heat and was trying to strengthen their relationship with the north Houston pass-rusher. I interviewed him after the camp where he went on about his loyalty to the Aggies and explained what has put them in such a good position to gain his signature. I strongly suggest giving that a listen below. https://texags.com/s/74377/aggie-commit-kaden-mccarty-spoke-about-his-loyalty-to-am2027 Cy Falls EDGE and Texas A&M commit Kaden McCarty @5star_kaden | @CyFallsFB | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/wH3iKhV2RB— Cade Draughon (@Cade_Draughon) March 8, 2026 2027 Cy Falls EDGE and Texas A&M commit Kaden McCarty @5star_kaden | @CyFallsFB | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/9sLqd4wCtl— Cade Draughon (@Cade_Draughon) March 8, 2026 North Forney WR Briceson Thrower is a big-bodied pass-catcher that was in attendance who has been high on offensive coordinator Holomon Wiggins' board for a while now. He has an OV set to the Aggies for the weekend of May 28th with other visits set to Texas Tech (Jun. 5th), Illinois (Jun. 12th), and Texas (Jun. 15th). I will have a full audio interview with him coming out tomorrow morning. 2027 North Forney WR and Aggie target Briceson Thrower @briceson_jr | @NFHS_FALCONS | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/IhNUsQ9Ixz— Cade Draughon (@Cade_Draughon) March 8, 2026 Hutto ATH Jaiden Fields is one of the best prospects in Central Texas and a two-way star for the Hippos that earned an offer to the Aggies after a stellar 7 on 7 performance last summer. He competed at DB at the camp, but is being recruited to the Aggies as a playmaking wide receiver. His OV is set for the weekend of May 28th and also has visits to TCU (Jun. 11th) and SMU (Jun. 5th). When I spoke to him afterwards he talked highly of Coach Elko and said he had to get a visit locked in after seeing how much he liked the atmosphere at Kyle Field. Langham Creek LB Jhadyn Nelson has blown up across recruiting circles over the last few months and as of a few weeks ago it seemed like the Aggies were on the outside looking in. He gave me his OV schedule at Shock Doctor which did not include the Aggies, but over the past few weeks, linebackers coach Travis Williams has picked up communication. Nelson will be in Aggieland tomorrow to check out the campus and based on how that visit goes, there could be an OV in the works. On the south side of the city, Shadow Creek is always a program to watch filled with talent at every position. CB Brandon Sherrard is among the best on the Shark's roster and will be making a spring practice visit on March 22nd. It sounds like that visit will be another one to watch as he told me an OV is certainly a possibility. Right now, he has OVs set up to Arizona State (Apr. 17th), Texas (Jun. 5th), and LSU (Jun. 12th). 2028 WR Jaylen Addai is another Shark prospect to watch as I highlighted in my Battle 7 on 7 recap. I will have a full audio interview with him dropping tomorrow morning.2028 Shadow Creek WR Jaylen Addai @JaylenAddai | @SCSharkFootball | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/W7oOmOxq1v— Cade Draughon (@Cade_Draughon) March 8, 2026 A name we haven't talked about much in the Houston area is 2028 Dekaney RB Christopher Chizer Jr, who earned his offer from the Aggies about a year ago after winning the RB MVP at the Houston Under Armour Camp last spring. He said he still talks to running backs coach Trooper Taylor regularly and plans to visit Aggieland over the summer and for a gameday in the fall. He mentioned Texas Tech and Tulane as other schools standing out.

Last night, the Nimitz Cougars finished their regular season off with a 51-7 win over the Dekaney Wildcats to improve to 8-2. Malachi Augustus was the star of the show with three touchdowns to contribute to the dominant display as TexAgs was there to catch the action.

A busy May begins for Texas A&M football as the Aggies sit at 11 commitments in the class of 2026, which is one ahead of Mike Elko’s first cycle in Aggieland. With camps and official visits in the months ahead, the Aggies have an eye on a busy summer.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
