The Aggie Spirit Prevails

Howdy, Ag!

Reflecting on Muster 2020, I think back to my first Muster as a young boy in Laredo with my dad, Class of '45. It was there, watching the unique bond my dad shared with his fellow Aggies that evening, that I knew I wanted to be a Texas Aggie. While Muster this year was much different than my first and each I’ve experienced since, I felt the same genuine connection to my fellow Aggies that inspired me nearly 50 years ago.

Last week’s virtual Muster confirmed the undeniable truth that as an Aggie — no matter what is going on in our world — every one of our names will be called and our fellow Aggies will answer “Here” when the time comes. The Aggie Spirit will always prevail.

I felt compelled to write to you today out of profound gratitude for your perpetuation of our oldest tradition — Aggies helping Aggies. As our team, university partners, and volunteers worked diligently to make Muster 2020 possible, you and other Aggies are answering the call to lead, serve, and take care of one another in response to these challenging times. You are, and always have been, the strength of the Aggie Network.

The support of the Aggie Network has enabled The Association of Former Students to be there for Texas A&M and Texas Aggies for over 140 years, through many trying times. Your support empowers us to be there today and for generations of Aggies to come. We are deeply grateful for you and your unwavering commitment.

As Aggies, we share an indescribable bond that transcends time and place and unites us all simply because we are Aggies. This shared bond fills us with optimism and faith for the brighter days ahead and inspires our team to continue our noble mission of serving Texas A&M and Texas Aggies. Thank you for helping us carry out that mission!

With Gratitude,
