All-Aggie Tailgate at Ole Miss in 2019. Admission, food and drink are free; RSVP at tx.ag/AwayGames.

UPDATE:  Location change for Yell Practice in Denver on Sept. 10. Yell Practice will be at 10 p.m. at Sunken Gardens Park. Details are here.

Join The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M’s yell leaders on the road for away-game events in Denver, Memphis/Oxford, Columbia, Baton Rouge and Fort Worth/Arlington this fall!

At each away football game, The Association and local A&M Clubs will host Yell Practice and Aggie HQ the night before and the free All-Aggie Tailgate the day of the game. These events were canceled in 2020, but return this fall.

Yell Practices will be held at 10 p.m. on Friday nights, led by the 2021-22 A&M yell leaders. Head yell leader Memo Salinas ’22 said, “We have some great locations set up for Yell Practices thanks to The Association of Former Students, and we're ready to share a great football season with you, the 12th Man. Gig 'em!"

See the full schedule and all confirmed locations at tx.ag/AwayGames.

Seeing the local sights

In Denver, Yell Practice will be at Sunken Gardens Park, with Aggie HQ nearby at Stoney’s Bar and Grill. (If you get to town early, the Denver A&M Club invites visitors to an Aggie pub crawl on Friday night; see their Facebook page at tx.ag/DenverAggiesFB.)

For the Ole Miss game, when many Aggie travelers typically stay in Memphis overnight, Yell Practice will return to Handy Park in Memphis, with Aggie HQ just across legendary Beale Street at Silky O’Sullivan’s.

The Fort Worth A&M Club will invite Aggies to a special Cowtown Kickoff event before Yell Practice on Sept. 24 — details to come.

See tx.ag/AwayGames for more information on these weekends plus plans for Missouri and LSU!

Hosting the yell leaders

The Association gets locations and noise permits for Yell Practice at away games, and also pays for the Aggie yell leaders’ hotel rooms.

In addition, The Association sets up an Aggie HQ location for Friday night before Yell Practice, typically a restaurant with food and drink options near Yell Practice and when possible also near the local entertainment district or hotel center.

Local A&M Clubs partner on planning and hosting the weekend’s events. This year's Club partners include the Baton Rouge, Denver, Mid-South, Heart of AmericaDallas, Fort Worth and Northeast Tarrant County A&M Clubs.

Tailgate details - we grill for you!

The free All-Aggie Tailgates on gameday offer beer (2 per adult), water, sodas and food such as grilled sausage links or tacos — all at no cost to attendees, thanks in large part to the sponsors secured by Association staff. Aggies and friends are asked to RSVP at tx.ag/AwayGames so that the amount of food and beverages can be estimated in advance.

Specific times are announced once kickoff time is set, but normally the tailgates begin 3½ hours before kickoff and end 30 minutes before kickoff.

The A&M yell leaders also come lead a few yells at each All-Aggie Tailgate as their schedule permits!

These events are coordinated by The Association of Former Students to bring Aggies together, to bring a little bit of Aggieland on the road and to help keep Aggie traditions strong.

The crowds are often made up of both current and former students traveling in for the game as well as Aggies who live in the area, sometimes bringing their kids out to see their first Yell Practice.

Corps trip to Fort Worth

It has not yet been announced whether there will be Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band travel to away games. But the Corps of Cadets is planning to renew the tradition that goes back to 1887 of making a Corps trip to an away game: The Sept. 24-25 events surrounding the Arkansas game in Arlington are set to include a Corps trip in addition to Yell Practice in the Fort Worth Stockyards and the All-Aggie Tailgate near AT&T Stadium. All cadets will travel to and attend the game.

Plans are for the Corps to also conduct a march through downtown Fort Worth on gameday morning, if scheduling permits: If kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m., the march won’t take place. Once game time is announced, the Corps' website and @AggieCorps social media will share details and plans.

Sign up to get email updates

You can sign up to receive emails about future All-Aggie Tailgates and Yell Practices at tx.ag/AwayGameEmails. Typically these will go out at the start of each month with updated information for the upcoming away-game weekends.

As each game approaches, details such as any food and drink specials for Aggies as well as more specifics on how to reach the events, find parking and so on, may be included in the emails.

Salinas encourages Ags to attend, saying, “The Spirit of Aggieland and the power of the 12th Man are back! I can't wait to see the number of Aggies we're going to have at our away Yell Practices showing our opponent what Texas A&M and the Fightin' Texas Aggies are all about!"

Your donations allow The Association of Former Students to plan and staff away-game events, host the Aggie yell leaders and charter A&M Clubs around the world. Thank you! You can make a gift of any amount at tx.ag/Give.
