Corps Receives $1.6 Million From Association in 5 Years

Susan "Sue" Owen '94 September 14, 2020 12:28 PM updated: November 9, 2020 5:55 PM

In the past five years, Association donors have provided $1.6 million to the Corps of Cadets.

That includes not only more than 500 scholarships to cadets in 2015-19, but also $935,000 to the Corps and key units.

Thousands of Association members giving an average gift of about $180 a year made it happen.

  • $530,000 to the Aggie Band’s travel fund
  • $50,000 to the Ross Volunteers
  • $50,000 to Parsons Mounted Cavalry
  • $45,000 to the Fish Drill Team

If you’ve been an active donor to The Association in the past five years, you have been part of that: Fish Drill Team national titles, the Aggie Band playing for audiences across the country, Cavalry pageantry and parades, and Ross Volunteers honor and drill roles from Silver Taps and Muster to two Texas gubernatorial inaugurations.

Not only did some 322 A&M cadets receive 522 scholarships you helped provide (some cadets receiving more than one scholarship, with the average amount per cadet being $2,142), but overall, Association donors gave more than 1,200 scholarships a year for Aggie students.

Association support also goes to other student organizations and student experiences including Aggie traditions. Learn more about how your gift helps Aggies at AggieNetwork.com/giving.

The Association of Former Students has a bold vision to engage 100,000 donors annually for Texas A&M by the end of 2020. To learn more, visit tx.ag/100Kby2020. To help us help more Aggies, make a gift at tx.ag/Give.
