How long do you want to ignore this user?
Do you need to declare your Redshirt players within a certain time frame? Before the first game?
How many plays in a game burns your redshirt? One play? One quarter? Trying to sort it out. TIA.

Right now, if a kid steps on the field, he burns a year of eligibility. One play is all it takes. Only way someone can get back a redshirt season or in proper terms, a medical hardship waiver, requires an athlete sustains a season ending injury before 4 games played or 30% of the season total.

New rules committee revising current redshirt rule now to allow any player to participate in up to 4 games during a season without burning a kids redshirt. Essentially fish could get game time and not risk losing a year of eligibility.

No formal declaration that I know of outside of a coach/player verbal agreement. If there is, its probably pretty minimal outside of listing an athlete and faxing it in to NCAA. I'm sure there is some form of paperwork to follow up with the NCAA after the season to be granted a redshirt. Having to do that before the season seems like pointless paperwork given the chance of injuries and having to burn your redshirt. It was hard to find a specific form that's filed in this case. Found some stuff on an academic redshirt but its a whole different deal from the regular redshirt you're asking about.

And you never have to declare someone as a redshirt. If he doesn't play all year then he qualifies. You don't have to announce it before the season or whatever.
