...maybe even before their bowl game.

Any idea on how this will effect LSU's & A&M's recruits?

I guess it might depend on when they name a new DC?

it will be interesting to say the least.

with everything that has happened with our craptastic season, we still have a fighting chance for Loston.

Damn, I hope this pisses off Michael Brockers enough to decommit. This guy was his recruiter at LSU and I heard a few months ago that we were his second choice.

"They had a job to do, and no one did it better. They were the 12th Man. They were Texas A&M. They became a legend."

Better yet, lets just hire the guy. It looks as if he can recruit, our coaching can't possibly get any worse.

I can't see Miles sending Crowton packing, so Sheppard's position isn't effected.

I will let you know on the rest Monday, thats when things are going to start taking place.

Thanks tigger. How do you feel about the lsu situation. Do you think this falls on Miles, or do you think with new coordinators they can be contenders next year?

Before the season started I said we would go 10-2, but that was with Ryan.

When Lee was named the starter I went with 9-3 60%/8-4 30%.

I disagreed with Miles naming Co-defensive coordinators, having a split command never works.

One has to take up for Miles for letting RP go, now many coaches would have done that?

Miles also did a few things wrong this season, one not playing the more talented player in many positions. Miles likes to play sr players. At one position he had an all world player on the bench until the last 4 games playing a for less talented player in that spot.

The Co-defensive coordinators have to be called out for the secondary play all season, which is also why Miles went with Lee at Qb. Not realizing the secondary was the weak link of the defense, and Lee burned them in the off season (which as you saw in the Bama, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Ark games meant little).

The DL was pressed all season because of the break down of that secondary and very poor LB play. That are some bright spots in the secondary, but when LSU has to used the nickel everyone was throwing against McCray spot or Hawkins. Jacob Cutrera was the weak link at LB and there were many blown coverages all season.

Patrick Peterson will be an all pro an All American before he leaves LSU.

LSU played to far off the wr's all season, and has to go back to Saban's CB on an island theory.

All being equal, LSU will be favorite to win the west next season.

after the first, second, third, or fourth disciplinary indicident?

i'd say most would have let the kid go a little earlier.

The problem is RP had done nothing of any harm, going to a casino with a fake ID. Oh wow thats really bad, and how many of us here had fake IDs and went to bars?

RP was in a circle of friends that were bad news on campus, and all that group was gone by the end of his rsFr year.

RP was let go for not going to class and missing one team meeting. Miles had him on a very short rope, and had put him on team probation for missing class one time before.

And the FBI investigation about the conterfeit $20's?

How many of us have done the same?
tigger1

RP was one of over 1000 people from LaPlace La. to be questioned by the FBI on fake $20.00 and like 99.9% of them was cleared of any wrong doing.

any chance we get their DC as our new co-DC? Kines can teach the man for a couple years and then when Kines retires we have some continuity for the first time in a loooooooong time

RP never did anything that many, many college kids do all the time. A fake ID, skipping class, etc...

I never heard anything about drugs, never heard anything about drinking, about asault, etc...

He was just a star player and got a lot of attention. His PROBLEM was he didn't seem to learn from prior mistakes and it got really tiring.

I don't think many coaches would kick off a star player for using a fake ID one night. They'd keep him on a short leash but I doubt they kick him off. But, when he started skipping classes and then missed that meeting, that leash couldn't get much shorter and he had to go.

Link? Peveto has a very good reputation and is recruiting four difference makers we'd kill to have (Brockers, Jackson, CMike and McFarland).

yeah, he was kicked off for missing class one time and not going to a meeting.

you honestly believe that or are you joking?

Late word tonight has 4 coaches fired and John Chavis of Tennessee the leading canidate for DC.

Ed Orgeron is being worked on to come in as a combo DL/RC job.

Ed is a great DL coach, orginally signed by LSU back in 1979.

HT, I doubt that is all it was. Like I said, in my opinion, he was on a short leash and it didn't take much to send it over the edge.

He was kicked off for missing class and a meeting. But, his prior actions probably made that descision quite a bit easier.

That is my take on everything.

Les Miles going to LSU was a blessing for Texas A&M football. He's going to take them down a few notches, and our recruiting should benefit.

I really hope LSU doesnt hire Orgeron although it makes sense based on his roots in Louisiana. I'd really love for him to take Buddy Wyatt's job and be Defensive Coordinator-in-waiting if Kines leaves after year 2 (assuming Kines doesnt quit after year 1). He was Pete Carroll's top recruiter and recruited/coached big-time players during his stint as an assistant coach at Miami under Jimmy Johnson. He has that passion that is motivating for recruits and young players.

Chavis would be great addition to Les Miles' staff or anyone's staff for that matter.

Coach O loves being Louisiana since he's originally from there and his family lvoes it there as well. I don't know how much O makes with New Orleans right now, but I think they were saying for him to go from there to the DL coach at LSU would be a huge paycut, so I think he would have to be the DC which I wouldn't mind as well.

Now I hope O comes in as the DL coach and if so, I don't think Brockers will want to go anywhere because O is a master with the defensive lines. Just look at what he left for Nutt at Ole Miss this year
tigger1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Coach O make around 500k as DL coach for the Saints...

If he gets the DL/RC job at LSU he will make in the 650-700k range, due to having two positions and will likely be made Associate Coach.

The OC/DC at LSU make 700-900k

Bo Pelini made 900k last season at LSU as the DC.

Chavis is still in the lead for the DC job.

Thanks Tigger, I thought I was the only LSU fan on here so I barely post on here. I do go to A&M though.

I don't think it will hurt A&M any worse if O goes to LSU because LSU can already get players in Texas before A&M can

Throughout the 80's and 90's we outrecruited LSU in Texas and won quite a few head to heads in Louisiana ( Bucky Richarson ring a bell). This was because we slaughtered them continously on the football feild for half a decade, I was there for the '93 and '95 games as a kid at Kyle Feild watching the likes of RC and the Wrecking Crew dismantle them. We beat them so bad in '95 that they opted out of their friggen contract.

so granted, we have lost more than we have won for several years but don't write it off as a blanket statement. Even in our horrible situation we still have some pull.

Georgia Tech might change what kids in TX think about LSU if they pound them into submission like they did UGA.

Believe it or not, they do play some good football in LA and LSU has won two national titles with Louisiana players...and its true that almost all LA players offered by LSU will go there, but they cant take everyone so there is no reason why we shouldnt try to be the next best thing---although SEC teams, particularly 'Bama will have something to say about that.

My buddy thinks LSU hires Clemson's old DC and Peveto goes back to being a position coach (not sure why he'd accept that). Given the ties he already has to Shepard I have to think that would all but seal the deal for LSU.

Vic Koenning tried to pull a power play on LSU this last weekend, trying to get Miles to say yes or no Sunday.

Miles is trying to help all of the coaches out who are being let go and waiting on them to find other positions before hiring the new coaches.

O is still the number 1 coach on the hiring list. With Vic Koenning out of the picture Chavis the early favorite will be getting another hard look.
