9231 to be exact. The New York Times called it a day of data anomaly which is clear. However it doesn't match up with DSHS. Nothing on DSHS adds up to 9000 yesterday. Where did all these new cases come from?

They're old cases... Texas DSHS has a great notes page that explains the numbers.

I would have guessed the increase to be related to Memorial day and Graduation parties.

In places like Australia and Japan and Europe that would have been enough to hermetically seal the state for weeks!!
Let’s Go Brandon!

Statewide we have 1566 hospitalizations.
It's been 381 days since we've hit a number lower.
Covid is over.

I watch the data in Colorado 6 - 7 days a week. There are spike all the time; sometimes very large spikes.
I never pay attention to a graphic which doesn't contain 7 day average values. Nice and smooth graphic.
