80 Patients and Staff Members Come Down with Coronavirus at Texas Nursing Home 39 of 39 Saved by Hydroxychloroquine Treatment
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/05/80-patients-staff-members-come-coronavirus-texas-nursing-home-hydroxychloroquine-treatment-saves-1-patient/
Quote:

The Resort at Texas nursing home had an outbreak of coronavirus that infected 56 residents and 33 staff members.

39 residents gave the doctor permission to use hydroxychloroquine. They all performed well.

Dr. Robin Armstrong immediately administered hydroxychloroquine to the residents and staff members along with Zpac and Zinc.

Only one nursing home patient died since the doctor prescribed the hydroxychloroquine.
55 made it.

This drug is having amazing success treating the coronavirus.
But the liberal media would rather see people die than report the truth on this treatment.

Why do I have to go to an African YouTube channel to see this?

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/05/why_do_i_have_to_go_to_an_african_youtube_channel_to_see_this.html
Quote:

The video features a physician who practices in Dallas, Texas talking about what she had been doing for her COVID-19 patients, not long after the outbreak. Needless to say, she gives the president a lot of credit for helping to cure her patients. Her name is Dr. Ivette Lozano. Her 13-minute speech at an "Open Texas!" rally was infuriating to watch and listen to.

Among other things, I was completely shocked to hear that Trump Derangement Syndrome has now completely seized the mental faculties of local everyday drugstore pharmacists. According to her, some of them outright refused to fill prescriptions for the drug whose name shall not be mentioned unless they were told what it was being prescribed for!

Interview With Dr. Vladimir Zelenko: "We Are at a Pivotal Moment"
https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/health-care/item/35754-hydroxychlorquine-dr-zelenko-we-are-at-a-pivotal-moment

Quote:

Throughout the plague-ridden spring of 2020, one aspect of the mainstream narrative has remained consistent: There is no treatment for COVID-19. So it is best, and mandated by government decree, that everyone stay locked down in their homes, that business (except for those of the largest variety) are non-essential and should be shut down, and that life should be restricted as much as possible.

Much of this is dangerous and unprecedented, and it is in part based on a complete untruth. The notion that there is no treatment available for COVID-19 is simply not true, as several doctors in the United States and abroad have developed treatment protocols that they say are working. Among these is Dr. Vladimir Zelenko (shown).

Practicing in a community on the outskirts of New York City, the epicenter of the pandemic outbreak in the United States, Dr. Zelenko has gained international fame for his work in treating COVID-19 patients with a three drug treatment consisting of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and zinc. Heavily promoted early on by President Trump, but panned by the mainstream media and politicized almost to extinction in the United States, the treatment as administered by Dr. Zelenko seems to have had noteworthy success.

Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, and Zinc Triple-Combo Proved to be Effective in Coronavirus Patients, Study Says
https://www.sciencetimes.com/articles/25658/20200512/hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin-zinc-triple-combo-proved-effective-coronavirus-patients-study.htm

Quote:

A new study from New York suggests that the drug may yield better results when used in combination with the dietary supplement, zinc. Researchers from the NYU Grossman School of Medicine placed a medical preprint on their site on Monday. Their paper is yet to be peer-reviewed.

In the study, half of 900 COVID-19 patients were given the triple-drug combo of hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and azithromycin. The other half were given only hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic, azithromycin.

The results of the study revealed that the patients who received the triple-drug combo had a 1.5 times greater probability of getting better from the disease. They were also more likely to eventually be discharged from the hospital compared to those who were only given the double-drug combination.

Brazil's Health Ministry Recommends Wide Use of Hydroxychloroquine

https://www.theepochtimes.com/brazils-health-ministry-recommends-wide-use-of-hydroxychloroquine-chloroquine_3358166.html
Quote:

Brazil's Health Ministry on Wednesday recommended using hydroxychloroquine and the closely related chloroquine in hospitalized patients, from the mild cases to the most serious ones.

Doctors should consider prescribing the increasingly popular three-drug combination of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine with azithromycin, an antibiotic, and zinc, the new guidelines (pdf) state.

Brazil's federal guidelines previously said hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine should only be used in patients suffering from severe cases of COVID-19. The new guidance says the anti-malarials should be used with azithromycin at the first sign of symptoms.

A Texas Family Doc Debunks Democrat/Media HCQ Myths

https://dbdailyupdate.com/index.php/2020/05/22/hydroxychloroquine-a-texas-family-doc-debunks-democrat-media-hcq-myths/
Quote:

As I researched hydroxychloroquine in the early days of the pandemic, I couldn't find one documented case of a person dying from a cardiac arrhythmia. And this covered over 60 years of the drug being used as a treatment of and prophylaxis against malaria, both short term and long term usage. All of you reading this know of the millions of dosages given to certain people with autoimmune diseases that successfully take HCQ with no untoward reactions.

The word "anecdotal", as it applied to Hydroxychloroquine, took on a different meaning also. In this case it is used in a demeaning manner as it wasn't "science." It hasn't been proven to be effective without a shadow of doubt. No double blind or whatever studies have been done with HCQ to prove it's 100% effective in dealing with Chinese virus. And on and on.

I can assure you that the medical profession has prescribed drugs and therapies forever based on anecdotal evidence that suggest off label treatments may be helpful for certain diseases. Most or possibly all with greater risk versus benefit profiles than HCQ and Corona Virus.

Yes yes, every scientific study saying these drugs don't work is flawed and every random tweet that says they work is 100% facts...

It's extra amusing (and sad) that the same people who said we didn't have time to do trails to see if these drugs work, now want to wait on trials before we stop giving them to people.

I'm perfectly happy to wait until the trials are done to decide if we should use these drugs or not.

Did you even look at the study you're claiming?

Survivors were on average 7 years younger, in better health (30% obese versus 60% in fatalities), had 2x - 3x lower the % of comorbidities than the fatality group.

Think maybe that's not an apple to apples comparison there?

Hydroxychloroquine used by Korea for Covid-19 while US is divided
https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/hydroxychloroquine-used-by-korea-for-covid-19-while-us-is-divided/
Quote:

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly touted the drug and received significant pushback from the media and the Democratic Party, with the governors of Nevada, Michigan and New York even going so far as to issue executive orders restricting how doctors can use HCQ to treat patients suffering from Covid-19.

Medical treatments have traditionally been a private decision between patients and doctors, but now it seems politicians are usurping their right to choose. According to Dr Jeffrey Singer, a general surgeon and Cato Institute fellow, this threatens the integrity of the medical profession and indirectly imperils patients, by denying them emergency options when no other alternatives are available.

Moreover, the politicization of treatment options would not help Americans, given the fact countries such as Belgium, France and South Korea have used HCQ to treat Covid-19 with a good degree of success.

South Korea was one of the first countries to be hit by the virus after China, reporting its first case on January 20 and peaking by late February, before suddenly tapering off in early March and "flattening the curve." It also has a comparatively low mortality rate through a combination of testing, tracing, containment and HCQ.

Last month, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Korean Society of Infectious Diseases, Korean Society for Antimicrobial Therapy, Korean Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and a tuberculosis association recommended the use of Kaletra, an anti-HIV medication, in combination with HCQ, to treat Covid-19.

Hydroxychloroquine used to treat COVID-19 patients at Bayonne Medical Center
https://hudsonreporter.com/2020/04/14/hydroxychloroquine-used-to-treat-covid-19-patients-at-bayonne-medical-center/
Quote:

The Bayonne Office of Emergency Management (OEM) made the revelation in the daily COVID-19 update on April 6.

"Doctors at BMC have informed us that they have been using Hydroxychloroquine and other therapies, on some patients," according to OEM. "Although scientific data isn't available, doctors state they have seen some success."

Dr. Vijay Singh, Director of Hospitalist Medicine at Bayonne Medical Center, confirmed on April 14 that the drug was in fact being used to treat most COVID-19 patients at the hospital.

Dr. Singh iterated that BMC is using it and seeing some good results on patients. However, right now it appears that is the only option these doctors have at the moment.

Medicine in general is based on evidence. Double-blinded, prospective evidence if we can get it, otherwise we use the best evidence we can find. This is essential, because limited data, chance, and confirmation bias are all huge factors. You can do a lot of damage to people while trying to help them if you are relying on your "gut", your politics, or poor evidence. And since our motto as doctors is "first do no harm", we should avoid treatments unless we know they help. Above all we should avoid making things worse.

Now medicine is an art as well as a science, and doctors are given broad leeway to color outside the lines. You can't predict every nuance and circumstance using broad guidelines. So if your doctor wants to give you HCQ then you should take it. But don't expect broad guidelines or widespread acceptance unless and until we have actual high quality evidence, free of politics and confirmation bias, that shows it works. I hope it works. I hope remdesivir works. I hope IL-6 inhibitors work. I hope surfactant works. I hope we get a working vaccine soon. We'll take any tools we can get, but we need to make sure we're not making the situation worse just because we feel like we need to do something.
