I've never been more black pilled about Aggie sports after reading @KendallRogers 's TexAgs post on Ag sports. The BK extension should've done it but this is worse.

It's clearly not just a problem with the AD. We have been handing out sweetheart deals for longer than Trev has been here.

These dumb contracts predate trev though and a couple of posters on that thread said this stuff is being okayed above AD's/President's head. One even said it was a specific donor/BOR member. I think it is more than that. It is an institutional problem at this point.

I will never get over the idiocy of earleys contract. I don't buy the avoiding negative recruiting defense I've seen of it.

This had been my point from previous posts. i get going with Earley after last season in light of all the variables at play. But why gurantee all 3 years? give him a 3 ur contract with 2 guranteed and if it goes well
sign him to a long term deal. regardless Earley was taking this job even if they offered him 500k and no guarantees. i don't care what his agent thought no one will make me believe Earley doesn't take this job regardless of contract. so clearly we didn't negotiate well.

Trev is labeled a penny pincher brought in by BoR to balance the budget. At the same time, he himself guarantees contracts to rookie head coaches when other candidates would have been available.


What does he do well?

I don't know if Kendall made this stuff up or not. I'd say it's unlikely, as he has a reputation to uphold and a business to run. Conversely, we all know these insiders have "information" they'll never disclose. Remember last summer when Brauny and Billy told us about all of the text messages and such that were "going to come out" soon? Did anyone ever actually see any of the recruiting texts from the burner phones? I don't recall any of it ever actually being made public (maybe I missed it.)

It appears to me that KR implies TA abruptly ceased negotiations with two viable candidates, and saving money was the impetus for doing so.

The conflicting statements made by KR and TA seem to indicate either a flaw in KR's information source(s) or dishonesty from TA, unless TA was unexpectedly knee-capped by a higher authority.

But....this time a year ago the players essentially held the school hostage by saying they want Early and inferring they would leave if he wasn't hired.

As for me, I appreciate his (Early's) loyalty. Yes, I get he went to that school in Austin when he didn't know if he still had a job here or not, but he seemingly wasn't very happy about it.

And we all applauded Early coming back a year ago. This year sucked, but sometimes that happens when you get an all-time great season - the next one sucks even thought it shouldn't.
