The small town i went to in high school still has a drive-in. The speakers were for esthetics only, we used the car radio or brought in boom boxes. We would lay on the grass in front of the cars and have a picnic with whatever food we smuggled in. Tuesday nights were 5 dollars per car.

Things that take you back to the good old days...

Who remembers the National Athem and..."This concludes our broadcasting day..."
Fuzz and horizontal stripes! I still think we were smarter with fewer channels.

My daughter would spend a week or so with my in-laws each summer when she was a kid. One year (~2010) my MIL caught her in her room watching TV after midnight. Obviously told her that she needed to turn off the TV and go to sleep. Daughter said something about the channel still broadcasting as the reason she was still watching. If only she had grown up in the days when the TV stopped at midnight.

As odd as it may seem, the pics of the everyday yellow and red Union Pacific engines are my favorite in the countdown since they are the ones we normally see pass behind Olsen's RF wall.

Do you have pictures lined up for every number? Are you sure they're all available?

I try to always have a few days in advance so I can post quickly if I need to, but no I don't have them all lined up down to one. I'm reasonably assured of being able to find some engine for each number.

One year I did Snapple caps and was dismayed to find that Snapple skips numbers! So I would find baseball specific Snapple facts and then fudge the numbers for those days. :p

I was amazed at the difference between my first request and 2nd.

Tying into today's Santa Fe Locomotive #168 theme, and the them of toys from the good ol' days, here is a throwback toy that I had and loved: the Lionel 6-18154 O Santa Fe FT AA Diesel Locomotive Electric Train Set #167/168.

These toy electric train locomotives were modeled after Santa Fe Railroad diesel locomotives 168 and 167, which were used between Santa Fe, New Mexico, and San Diego, California, in the 1940s and 1950s for rail passenger service.

Remember when almost every business gave away match books? People used to keep them in big glass bowls in their dens.
Here is a look back!

I learned how to do this in elementary because people would often lock keys in car in 80s. I wrote a how to paper on it for a assignment in 4th grade and was told it was not an appropriate topic

Do you remember when Labor Day meant no more white clothing? My mother would announce that all the whites in our closet were to be put away and not to be worn again until Spring. Every now and again I still feel weird when I wear something white after Labor Day.

If you are old enough that music that used to be played at keg parties in college are now the songs playing at the grocery store...

This happened yesterday to me...AC/DC's "you shook me all night long" was playing in market street. Oh the humanity!
