We had a giant grass hill. I used to ride down it on one of these babies, grabbing onto that handle for steering. Very dangerous lol. But also very fun.

Today's collapsible wagons would fall apart on that hill.

Weird Science has an A&M connection. Ilan Mitchell-Smith ("Wyatt") got his PhD and taught Medieval Literature for a while. I took two classes from him and he would never bring up or talk about his acting career. But he's an amazing professor and really loves teaching.

True! I also believed that it would one day become an Olympic sport. Me and my neighborhood group wrote the IOC about how roller skating was a legit sport. They probably didn't take us seriously; plus the letter was written in crayon. And our primary example for roller skating being a legit sport was that it was recently featured in the movie Xanadu. Ohhhh to be young again.

My sister Jennifer and I saw that movie 5 times while it was in the theater. And Im not ashamed to say I own a copy of the movie and the awesome ELO produced soundtrack! Good Times My Man!

I remember loving both Grease and Xanadu, watching both so many times. Oh to be young again, is right. I was young enough that Olivia Newton John playing a high school student even though she was my mom's age had zero impact on believability of the movie.

Regarding Xanadu: the soundtrack went double platinum in the U.S. and Canada and both Magic (ONJ performing, written by John Farrar) and Xanadu (ONJ and ELO performing written by Jeff Lynne) went to #1. Magic in the U.S. and Xanadu in the U.K.

If you recall Olivia Newton John sang the A side of the LP and ELO mostly performed the B side. Dancing' on the A side was a duet of sorts between ONJ and the Tubes as the two competing styles were represented by a big band on one moving platform and the rock band in the other.

The movie didn't perform as well, but fans of cult-film The Warriors (1979) were likely surprised by Michael Beck doing a completely different part in Xanadu (1980.)
