You are a part of the Brat Pack generation if these 2 movies make you smile in fond memory...
And, just for reference...we rented 16 candles so much that my dad (Mark Fairchild) threatened us with imminent death if we rented it one more time!

This was regular transportation growing up. Back of my uncle's truck.
And then the back or our neighbor's station wagon filled with kids heading to the pool or park or to the roller rink!

We had a giant grass hill. I used to ride down it on one of these babies, grabbing into that handle for steering. Very dangerous lol. But also very fun.
Today's collapsible wagons would fall apart on that hill.

True! I also believed that it would one day become an Olympic sport. Me and my neighborhood group wrote the IOC about how roller skating was a legit sport. They probably didn't take us seriously; plus the letter was written in crayon. And our primary example for roller skating being a legit sport was that it was recently featured in the movie Xanadu. Ohhhh to be young again.

You know you grew up back in the day if this was your emergency contact system...
Before I went out on the weekends I was given change for the payphone if I needed help or needed mom and dad (Mark & Marsha Fairchild) to come pick me up.

Who remembers calling the bank phone to get your daily info? Here in you called the Midland National Bank to get the day, time, and weather report.
