You've been doing a lot of training.

I took a weekend trip from Lynchburg to Salem. What I spent in train tickets, metro rail and ubers more than covered what the cost of fuel, food and parking would have been if I drove. And the travel time was comparable, considering I likely would have got stuck in traffic in either dc, Philly or Boston.

If you decide to do it, sign up for amtrak rewards for free. I travel coach class because I'm a cheap *****, but every so often (like right now for January) they have free companion tickets for rooms.

The family room rates are really reasonable compared to air travel!

The Florida East Coast Railway (reporting mark FEC) is a Class II railroad operating in Florida. It is currently owned by Grupo Mexico Transportes (reporting mark GMXT), a Class I railroad in Mexico.

In 1895, railroad industrialist Henry M. Flagler formed the Florida East Coast Railway from the St. Augustine & Indian River Railway, the result of various local Florida railroad consolidations. Florida East Coast Railway rails reached Miami from Jacksonville in 1896, and famously extended out to Key West by 1912. Flagler founded the cities of Palm Beach and Miami, Florida, as well as most of Florida's east cost.

Today, the Florida East Coast Railway offers a variety of freight shipments, including trailer on flat car, container services, and limestone and other rock movement. Its current mainline exceeds 350 miles in length and supports various branches. The FEC serves domestic and international intermodal and carload customers and has exclusive partnerships with PortMiami, Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale), and the Port of Palm Beach.

*Wikipedia: "Electro-Motive Diesel"
*Motortrend: "How GM's Diesel Electric Locomotives Changed the World"
*Caterpillar: "Take A Ride Through the 100-year History of EMD"

The Electro-Motive Engineering Corporation was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1922, and was soon thereafter renamed the Electro-Motive Company (EMC). The company developed and marketed self-propelled railcars using General Electric's newly-developed internal combustion-electric propulsion and control systems.

In 1930, General Motors (GM) entered diesel engine production by purchasing the Winton Engine Company, who had in their product line a variety of stationary and marine diesel engines and spark-ignition engines for heavy vehicles. GM saw EMC's role in developing and marketing Winton-engined heavy vehicles as fitting their objectives and purchased the company shortly after the Winton acquisition, renaming it Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC), a subsidiary of GM.

In 2005, GM sold EMD to Greenbriar Equity Group and Berkshire Partners, at which point the company was renamed Electro-Motive Diesel. In 2010, EMD was sold to Progress Rail, a subsidiary of the heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar.

Oh, by the way. Haven't been having any offseason baseball dreams, but I did have a random basketball dream the other night. It involved me having to sing the national anthem at Reed Arena. I sang it, and even though all the notes felt right in my throat, they came out quite horribly. It was really bad. It was so bad.

How about you take a video of you actually singing it and post it here?
