Thought I would create a thread for our regional early on this week. If we advance, can create one for the super regional. If anyone has another way to do it feel free to and this one will drop down into obscurity.

Wikipedia page has a lot of information (always does) on the tournament, including historical, with a traditional bracket look:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_NCAA_Division_I_softball_tournament

'Official' NCAA page changed their look a year or two ago and I do not like it BUT if you click on a regional it goes to the traditional bracket look AND shows dates and times, telly info, etc.

I know they do not play in the SEC but Maris and Liberty have some really good numbers.

Maris has two pitchers with great numbers. They have 103 HR's on the year. 1-3 in quad one games.

Liberty has one pitcher with really good numbers. A hitter with 20 HR's. Two others have a combined 17 HR's. 4-6 in quad one games, including wins over Bama, UCF, North Carolina and Virginia.

So the first game, Liberty vs Maris, might be a good one. Between these two schools and the Aggies might see some great games over the weekend.

For those that don't do X she picks the Aggies to win it all.

I would love to get to some of these games this weekend! Does anybody have ticket information?

IMO it's a favorable bracket for the Aggies, but no one should take Liberty for granted. They have a very experienced coach and they've caused some mayhem in past tournaments. I believe they knocked off UCLA at the UCLA regional a couple of years ago.

Do they have a stud pitcher? If they don't, then I don't care.

Tickets went on sale this morning on 12thman.com. There don't seem to be any available there, which is probably no surprise. Where does one go to buy tickets? Is that even possible?

You can buy GA one at a time.

I decided to just sit in the outfield with my lawn chair and cooler.

Can hang out with Andy Garcia!

Liberty knocked 2-seed out of the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Kennedy Powell played left field for UCLA in that game. Liberty lost the regional to San Diego State and Mac Barbara played first base for SDSU.

I have mentioned the 2023 UCLA games a few times the past few days. I have added a bit more here ...

2023 tournament. #2 overall seed UCLA has won more titles than any other program. Great history. First game, lost to Grand Canyon 3-2. Second game, lost to Liberty 2-1. Eliminated.

2024 tournament. #8 overall seed Stanford beat St. Mary's (Ford played and coached there) 8-6. St. Mary's is a small school but played Stanford close.

2024 tournament. #7 overall seed Missouri lost to Omaha 3-1. Omaha then beat Washington 3-2. Missouri did come back and beat them twice to advance with 5-1 and 1-0 scores, both close games with the latter going 9 innings.

Top 8 seeds 'usually' win their regionals. Everyone expects them to win. But it does not always happen. And there are upsets in every tournament.

Recall we have had several poor games this year. Not a ton of them and we were able to win most of them but not all. Also recall that last year we lost to Kansas 1-0 at Davis. And the next weekend lost to Weber St 5-4 in 8 innings when they scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Tying run got in on a passed ball. We walked two in the inning. Sound familiar? It is not uncommon for some small schools to have a dominating pitcher who can win lots of games for them. Might not have an offense to score a lot of runs but as we saw in the 1-0 loss to Kansas they can beat really good teams with their arm alone. Well, and with some good defense.

Liberty is not a power team in a power conference but they have wins over Bama, UCF, North Carolina and Virginia this year. Was no fluke. They can play great ball. Same with Marist.

I cannot see into the future. Perhaps we will run-rule every opponent this weekend. But perhaps not. Have to wait and see.

In case you are wondering, I think we will go 3-0 and advance. But any team can win on any day so must be prepared and not be arrogant and cocky.

Would be very surprised if Kennedy throws game 1 against Saint Francis. I think she goes games 2 and 3.

The first team we play is the least likely to cause us trouble and there is a very good chance we win it without Lefty so I do not think she will start Lefty until game 2. Last year she started Lefty in games 2 and 3 against TX State and their outstanding pitcher.

But she's hard to guess, especially this year, AND our other pitchers really need innings. We need to know what they can do in post-season play, especially if we make it to OKC. Note that they got zero innings in the SEC tourney and it is one of the bad things about not playing the third game. If we start someone else in the 3rd game and win, great. If we lose a game after the first one we will almost certainly see our other pitchers. Might be a blessing in disguise although I certainly do not want that to happen. Basically, I think our other pitchers need more work than just in the first game.

HOWEVER, note that Coach said she started Lefty two consecutive days in the SEC tournament to get her ready for that. SOOOO, perhaps the 2nd and 3rd game in the regional and the 1st and 2nd games in the super regional !!

Note that Sidne 'might' return this weekend. Hopefully. Perhaps she will start on Friday to see how she does. If so, perhaps pitch only a couple of innings.

I am quite interested in who Liberty and Marist start in their first game against each other. They certainly do not want to go into the loser's bracket yet they have to figure the winner faces the Aggies. Liberty has only one really good pitcher whilst Marist has two.

I sure am looking forward to it all !!

well, it seems y'all have it all figured out. I too went through the other teams schedules looking for the "key" teams, individuals and stats. a 400 hitter, a pitcher with a 1.5 era. you know, I have an idea. let's win games 1 and 2 and let the "lovers " battle it out to see who loses to us in gm #3.

I so enjoyed watching the Tenn, Scar, and tu games back to back to back this morning, even SEC NOW didn't upset me.

I have watched an extended highlights version (~18 min) of the tu game three times!

Besides shutting down the sips I really enjoyed our hitting. A lot!

Kramer almost hit it over the wall. Missed by a few inches. She is a singles hitter so I was really, really happy for her and her expression after she stopped at third was priceless! Can hit the ball hard but usually not to the wall or over it. One HR last year and none this year. Allie had a hit, too! If those two could get hot during post-season it would be awesome because that part of the lineup is our weakest. Would love to see each hit .333+ for the rest of the year! Gosh, if Allie could hit like she did the first part of last season it would be grand!

KK has really turned into a power hitter, only one fewer HR than Maya - awesome! She had a slump for awhile but has broken out of it. Great time to do so. She is second on the team with 13 HR's! AND, she is only a freshman!

Amari also turned into a power hitter - also awesome! She's always been steady for the most part but this new dimension in her game is great and also at the right time of the year! AND, only two errors on the season!

Really looking forward to how they do this weekend, will be a great tell.

The Sharp's office negotiated with Bryan and College Station for tax proceeds contributions to the Kyle expansion and that included some city access to facilities for both and the Bryan/College Station notation being used to refer to the location of the school (remember both the RELLIS campus and Health Science Center are physically in Bryan.))

The inconsistency by the NCAA is certainly a repudiation of your woke premise. They are as woke as you get (though maybe today's ESPN still out-worked them?)

I generally find process and nomenclature arguments are disingenuous, but you are not as we have seen with your posts this year. So call it what you will!!!

It's no big deal to me but just a bit weird. I thought about it, wrote a few comments and forgot about it because there are more important things to think about ... first being the regional this weekend!

Heat will likely be a factor. Maybe not in individual games but over the weekend. In the '93 baseball regional, I talked to a UCLA player mom who said the humidity was killing those guys. It was later in May and hotter than low 90s, like it will probably be this weekend, but I don't think those teams are used to playing 3-4 games in 2-3 days in this type of weather. It was cool to cold less than a month ago where they are.

I hope the ladies are acclimated by now but when I talked to a few of the west coast girls just prior to the start of the season they mentioned how different the heat was.

Imagine you spend all year playing in the northeast then come to Texas mid May when it's close to 100 degrees and not only that but you have to lineup against Emiley Kennedy lol

I do not miss the humidity in College Station at all. The heat and humidity is tough on teams from 'up north' but most handle it well. And it is worse the closer you get to the coast.

We got about the toughest 2nd seed in our regional out of all of them. Liberty RPI is 26 in one source and 20 in another. I think the Sooners have a 2nd seed that is comparable but tu's 2nd is, I believe, 43. Liberty is absolutely no pushover and the other two teams will put up a big fight. There had better be no relaxation in our regional tournament. I believe we are the best team in the country but we will have to play like we are and not rest on our press clippings,

I'm sure these kids have experienced hot weather, not that low 90's is hot, and played in hot weather. This is like all the threads about any team from north of here playing at Kyle in September and then they hold up fine.

It's not the heat. It's the humidity the kids are going to struggle with.

I think the weather thing is typically overstated in general, considering these are healthy young adults. Even moreso if comparing to the NE, which is extremely humid and still gets pretty warm. No, it's not as hot and no the season isn't as long, but I just don't think it's the issue it's made out to be.

The following part of the recent interview with Coach Ford gives me a lot of hope for the next few weeks:

"Sidne Peters threw live this week. Our girls were not excited to see her 2,200 rpm, but her speed and velo looked really good. I'm excited, and if we can use her this weekend, we will."

. Hey LB12 is behind the fence what they call standing room only tickets? Or can you just walk up and sit your lawn chair there. Cannot make it this week but if we host a super sitting out there sounds good.
