I have been watching tu's softball page for this Fall's games to see how they have been doing. Sucks that our softball page removes each game after it is played without even mentioning the score or anything and I hope this changes in the future.

Regardless, their page even has recaps for the first two games but that's it.

We have two games left this Fall, this Tue and Fri. Really looking forward to them. Especially Texas State. They lost their top pitcher and some other stars to graduation and will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The game at Texas State is there, right? Would we have any trouble getting walk up tickets?

I am sure Texas St game is free like every other fall scrimmage. Keely and AC have been playing well for them

Not overlooking today's Maroon & White game but preparing for Friday's game vs Texas State I am posting extended highlights links to last year's games vs Texas State in the Regional at College Station. Thought some of you guys would like to see them. And, great to see once again the players who graduated! I might repost again on Thursday or so just in case some miss this post.

Extended Highlights, thanks to the Matt Highlights #2 youtube page:

2024 College Station Regional, Winners Bracket, Texas State vs #16 Texas A&M Softball Highlights (12:35, Lefty vs Mullins)

2024 College Station Regional, Final, Texas State vs #16 Texas A&M Softball Highlights (14:42, Lefty vs Mullins)

Every player on the team may see action tonight since they are playing each other. Should be great.

I wonder how often they do this in practice each week?

3 run shot Mya for Maroon. 3 run shot by Mac for white. Not much offense tonight. Everyone played except Della and Vestal I think. Pretty relaxed exhibition. Solid defense except an error on Perez

Thanks for the report, we appreciate it!

Great for Mya to connect. I recall it being mentioned after her 3-run shot in the Super last season that it was her first extra base hit of the season. Hit .214 on the year. First year nervousness, perhaps. That game-tying shot in the Super may have helped that!

And Mac living up to her billing. So far a great portal grab.

I wonder if OF'er Vestal is injured. IF's have been playing OF at times this Fall but I have not seen her mentioned in any of the reports. Six 'official' OF's on the roster, all six can play in a Maroon & White game. Why not her? Note that for 2025 and 2026 we have 6 OF commits (2+4) at this time.

I have been calling for two of the pitchers to be redshirted (we have 8!), perhaps Della will be. But could still get time in Fall games. Will have to wait until the season starts next year to find out.

Am looking forward to this Friday's game. Wondering how the two Aggie transfers will do if they get playing time.

I have been spoiled by your reports on the Fall games and was hoping you would post a report about the Texas State game. It certainly did not help to have it on the same day and same time as a volleyball game. But that's the way the ball bounces.

Regardless, thanks again for all the reports this Fall and, of course, your excellent posts throughout the year!

Welll, not knowing about one game of the six they played is not too bad. But to beat a dead horse, as the saying goes, I really wish there was not such a blackout on the games. At least post the darn scores. TexAgs DID cover the game vs the sips but that's it. Not a peep from the athletic department.

It's not like softball fans burrow underground as soon as the season ends each Spring only to come back out in February. Many of us are interested year 'round.

I do not recall if she did so last year but hopefully Coach will put out a second Fall press conference video in the coming weeks.

We also have signing day coming up soon AND Fall transfer portal action. We usually get info on the former but for the latter only those transferring IN. Not out. But people on this thread usually post this info so thanks in advance! Anyone know the dates of the above? If so, please post them. Thanks!

Wanted to put the following as a separate post.

Signing day. I have the following. Can anyone add to it? Or perhaps remove? Add or update stats? Players DO change their minds - see the first one on the list below!

Annsley Groce, OF, Keller, TX (July 2024, changed her commitment from Northwestern State to A&M because of a coaching change.)

.625 BA, .683 OBP, 55 SB

Piper White, OF, Jackson, TN. 5'3'', 90 lbs !!

2024 AB 86, BA .419, Runs 41, Hits 36, RBI 7, 2B 3, 3B 2, HR 1, BB 13, K 7

Madison Sauni, C/1B/3B, Chandler, AZ. Power hitter. #28 in the 2025 Extra Elite 100 and #13 Catcher in the Class of 2025.

Most softball programs don't publicize fall ball. It has been that way for years. They are glorified scrimmages.

But Aggie Softball did post on their IG story. Allie hit a 3-run HR. I don't remember who but someone hit a grand slam. Aggies won but a score wasn't posted.

A little more than glorified scrimmages but I understand your point. I have been hoping that Coach Ford would change the policy. At least leaving the games on the schedule page and posting the scores would be great but a quick write-up would be awesome. A couple of our opponents last year posted the results of the games. I followed the game vs the sips last year on their statbroadcast page (live updates) but no dice this year because it was in CS.

TexAgs has a nice-sized staff, would be great if they could cover each game if the athletic department does not.

Regardless, great to see Allie and Mya get big hits - good for them!

Allie started off with a tear last year, outrageous BA (over .600 for awhile) and 8 HR during non-conference but BA really went down once conference started and only 2 HR's the rest of the year. Led the team in SO's. You could tell she was really frustrated and I felt so bad for her but we are all pulling for her to get her groove back because she is an awesome person - and a darn good outfielder, too!

And Mya hit that massive game-tying 3-run shot in Austin last year and now the big one yesterday to go along with an HR in another one of the Fall games - would be awesome if she gets her groove back, too!

Thanks for the reports!

First games of the year are the Aggie Classic. Seven teams, including the Ags, over four days.

Same with the Texas A&M Invitational in late Feb.

These tourneys are where our large pitching staff will really come in handy!

Only 4 mid weeks this year and all at home which is nice.

Baylor in the first tournament and Texas St and Texas Tech in the 2nd. Those will be fun games

Hopefully we will get to face Tech's Million Dollar Girl !!

Will be great to play Baylor again. They were usually very good series when we played them regularly.

Annsley Groce is the one who changed her commitment from Northwestern State to Texas A&M because of a coaching change.

Still have transfer portal action to go but the number of new players starting next Fall will probably be a lot less than this year's 14 (with 13 returning)!

Roster limit for softball is 25 under the house agreement. 13 returning would give you 12 available. Might not be far off last years.

Roster limits but the conferences are also promising scholarship limits. So will be interesting to see how this effects softball and other sports. I think baseball is saying 34 players but only 25 on scholarship or something like that. Softball if follows the same ratio would need to lose several players

You don't need to lose players just because the scholarship limits. We already have more players than scholarships. Under house, baseball will still have the option for partials if you don't have full scholarships to all roster limit. I assume softball will be the same.

Additionally, even as the SEC imposes scholarship limits, you can use NIL to fill the gap. Have to put some thought which players you can justify a 50k NIL value to the clearinghouse. Or maybe you can do partials and justify a 25k NIL value. Fortunately, TAU has the interview fees option. I'd enjoy more player interviews for softball throughout the season.

My statement "Still have transfer portal action to go but the number of new players starting next Fall will probably be a lot less than this year's 14 (with 13 returning)!" was addressing the number of new players that came in this Fall not from a limit on roster size perspective but on integrating new players into the team.

When new players come in they need to get used to a lot of stuff. Coaching staff, other players, the Aggie way of doing things, how practices are run, how meetings are run, the campus, Aggie traditions, etc. The whole culture of Aggieland and Aggie Softball. For incoming freshman (or fish) it is even more difficult to adjust because college life is all new to them. Recall that there are 10 in the current freshman class, a pretty darn big class.

When there are only a few coming in it is easy to do but when you had more new players coming in this Fall (14) than you had returning players (13) the integration is more difficult. If there are any incoming transfers in the near future it will probably be a very small number so no problem with integrating. The same after next season's transfer period.

As for roster size limitation (25) there are 27 on the team now with 7 graduating next Spring = 20 on the roster after they leave. Three new signees make it 23. No telling how many might transfer out and/or in but I am sure the staff keep a very, very close count on the numbers!

So, basically, next Fall the number of incoming new players will be much smaller than the returning players - easier on everyone involved.
