Looking at the last weekend and matchups, I believe the following,
Arkansas - already a lock for top 8
Kentucky - already a lock for top 8
Texas A&M - already a lock for top 8
Georgia - Needs 1 win in 3 games
Tennessee - Needs 2 wins in 4 games
In my opinion, all five will make it as top 8.
The next 3 could come from all ACC - NC, Clem, FSU, WF. However, none play major needle movers as opponents. WF on the road vs. #20 NCSt could get interesting with a sweep.
Watch out for Indiana State and E. Carolina. Both play very bad teams, but the committee might want a small, non-SEC/ACC team in the top 8.
However...
Last year...
Seed/Final RPI
WF 1/2
FL 2/3
ARK 3/5
Clem 4/7
LSU 5/1
Vandy 6/8
UVA 7/11
Stan 8/17
Notable RPIs left out of top 8
Kentucky #4 (#1 SOS, 21-19 Q1)
S. Car #6
Indiana St. #9
Bama #10
A&M #28
TWO SEC TEAMS SKIPPED OVER!
Therefore,
If the committee is bent on only 4 SEC teams, if the Aggies lose 3, they will get bumped and justified as a slumping team. Get 1 win from Arky, they should be a top 8.
