As anemic as our stats look, that is not the same team that has been hitting the field for the last few weeks.

UO and UW are both regional teams

... And we've lost to MUCH worse teams than Stanford this year. Consistently.

None of us has any idea which team will show up tonight, so I'm not gonna sweat it until first pitch.

Their SOS is 38, not terrible. The Aggie's is 9. But some of our worst games have been against bad competition so not sure what the his means.

The Pac 12 sucks of course. It is the only other conference with multiple schools (3) winning a NC over the past decade, but it is west coast. So, it sucks.

They played 8 games versus teams ranked in top 25 at the time they played, 5-3 versus Texas Tech, Oregon, and Arizona State. None of those teams currently in top 25.

They went 3-0 against Oregon St, who was not in the top 25 at the time they played but currently #19 in Baseball America poll.

The Cali teams are geographically isolated so it really skews RPI. They don't have a short drive to midweek teams like the Big 12, SEC, ACC do. DBU, Sam, Troy, Campbell, Coastal... All in easy reach for folks in the East. In Cali you either play Irvine, Fullerton, etc (and have real risk of losses) or you don't. And even those teams have been pretty mediocre/bad in recent memory.

It makes it very hard to compare stats, RPI, SOS, etc

The Aggies we're watching right now simply aren't the same Aggies we've watched all Spring. This Aggies ball club is about 2.5 weeks old with a likely completely different stat line and mentality. I like our chances!

Yes, the analytics work against west coast teams.

California has more MLB players right now than TX & FL combined. The west coast schools are plenty good.

The highest RPI team they have played all year is 32. They don't have a single game against a top 25 RPI team. We are at 27 in the RPI and will be their toughest opponent so far.
