To start tomorrow.

I think Will.

Wonder if Schloss is thinking maybe using Wansing in relief for two games - similar to Ashenbach (sp?).

I'd agree; seems more likely to go with experience over the freshman.

The way Wansing pitched last week probably want to keep him for game 2.

You got to have a plan. If Wansing is starting game 1. Someone has to be held back for game 2. That's all we are guaranteed. Hopefully we win. That's all I'm saying.

Will is also accustomed to coming out of the bullpen. Throw him game 1 he can come back later in the series out of the pen

Wansing has given up 2 hits in the last 11 innings he's pitched over 4 games, K'ing 10.

Don't overthink it: give him the ball.

Think I'm gonna trust Schloss on this one. He's earned it.

I love this. Need to gamble a little to set ourselves up for the important winners bracket game.

I'm not sure what I'd do in this situation. Leaning Lampkin but that's taking a bit of a gamble putting a freshman out there to get it all started. Good thing we have the postseason guru in Schloss!

I like it. Risky in a 2-3 matchup and much less common but I guessed we might do this right after Hoover. And meanwhile, Stanford has announced they're throwing their #1 Friday guy versus the 4.

Pretty sure coach said Wansing is going in game 2

I'd even consider Dillard, but I guess the other 2 are much safer bets.

Because this isn't Omaha where you should start your #1 Ace in Game 1 so he can pitch again as soon as possible, I'd hold off on starting our best. We've got to beat top-ranked Stanford twice.

kind of the bottomline...

the Ags need to win Friday and Saturday

don't want to have to double-dip Stanford at the end of the regional

that's usually not the formula for the lower seed to advance

1 starts game 1 every time. I'm not sure we have a 1 but I know Schloss will start who he thinks is 1 for sure.

Not every time, LSU isn't throwing Paul Skenes in game 1 against Tulane

not sure if id rather them lose tomorrow and listen to their fans crucify the coach, or see them lose saturday with skenes pitching.

Wansing pitched three times in Hoover. Counting back to State he's thrown four times in two weeks. That's a lot of warming up and pitching. Giving him another day rest is a smart move. Trying to get two appearances out of him this weekend after doing similar last weekend is begging for an injury.

Thing is we don't have a no doubt #1 Starter. Wansing had a fantastic start in Hoover but was available for that Tuesday start against the Vols due to being only used for 1 1/3 innings in relief in against State the previous weekend. Schloss did a masterful job juggling the pen in Hoover, I trust him to do the same this weekend.

Whichever between Johnston and Lamkin is best at pitching / fielding the bunt game starts game 1 is my guess.

Correct. Which means never hold back pitching.

LSU might be an exception as they're playing the very last 4 but even then, if they have to play out of the losers bracket, they're probably F'd.

They're holding him back for the loser's bracket game against sips.

The biggest advantage to being a one seed is the potential to save your ace for game 2. It requires the four seed to be a weak team without an ace of their own, and for you to have a second starter that you believe in, but it is a very common approach when those conditions are met.

Actually, he did. Skenes threw 120+ pitches today.

That being said, I like the move to start Will.
