Move the game out of Hoover next year.

There are 2 indoor, artificial turf MLB stadiums in the SEC footprint: Arlington (as already mentioned) and Tropicana Field in St. Pete.

I've said it on a number of threads now, but I'd prefer they turn the Superdome into a baseball venue for this tournament. It would give LSU an advantage, but playing the game at the ugly ass Trop would be an advantage for Florida.

Same damn thing every year in Hoover. Suck it, Saban.
There is usually game delayed and occasionally postponed because of weather but this is the first time something like this has happened where multiple days of rain in a row.

Both are horrendous options IMO.

The options I'd really like are the AAA parks in Nashville or Memphis, but those are going to have the same weather issues as Hoover. Or even the AA park in Little Rock.

Agreed. Just stay with Hoover and all the collateral crap that comes with it. Dem's de breaks

I don't really think it's a stadiums or city's fault that the weather is bad.

And I know you're joking but hopefully will get it in tomorrow.
I'm not joking. This is not a new problem for Hoover.

To this extent it is. You're not going to find a venue that is in the SEC footprint where rain will not be an issue at times.

It's not the city's fault, but it is the fault of the people who pick a city that rain every year around this time. This is not new for the SEC tournament.

It poured here in BCS last night.
I never said we should host it

An outdoor venue with a seating capacity more in line with the event is way better than the two indoor options by far even with weather being an annoyance or even problematic as it is this year.

No way a MLB team is letting anyone play a tournament on grass in the middle of their season.

How much of an impact is it really though? Probably worse playing multiple games on a rain soaked field.

I remember in the '93 regional tournament at Olsen, rain screwed up day 1.

The Aggies started their game against Yale at 11pm. Finished around 2am.

No reason we can't play tonight if the weather's okay.

Dammit.

Everything about Hoover sucks. Let's move this thing around, give all the states in the SEC a chance to host.

This is definitely going to be what the sips say when they roll into the conference. 100%.

and another thing...

there's a fundamental problem with an outdoor tournament attempting to play 4 games in 1 day...

on back-to-back-to-back days

I don't disagree but most of out conference mates seem to have little problem with Hoover. In other words, there needs to be a strong reason to overcome the inertia of keeping it at Hoover. Maybe the weather this weekend will force the issue but it is unlikely the powers that be in the SEC will go for a rotation of venues for the event.

There are several reasons the SEC likes having the tournament in Hoover. It would take a really big check from someone to pull them away from there.

in all fairness...once OU & t.u. join the league...some of the neutral site conference events should move westward

MLB is worried about the condition of the field after a 16 game tournament is played on it over 6 days not during it.

Yep and as much as I hate the format, it might be time to go to a pod format the ACC uses.

Rest of SEC when sips and sooners come in and start suggesting conference events be moved to Texas and Oklahoma:

Lot of rain up in Oklahoma also this week. The old SEC schools are not going to agree to a venue at the extreme western edge of its footprint. They may accept it as part of a rotation but I have seen no indication in which most of the league is willing to do this or even try it.
