This series will likely determine if we make the SEC tournament in Hoover, which would be our only post-season and path to NCAA tournament play.

I've come to peace with this conclusion as well at this point. However, Kendall Rogers was on TexAgs Radio yesterday and laid out a couple of other possible paths.

While highly unlikely, he said he thinks we'd make it sweeping the next two series and winning one in Hoover or taking each of the next two series and then winning 2-3 in Hoover.

Again, extremely unlikely but still some faint other possibilities.

One game at a time. Auburn and LSU are both opportunities to rescue the season and move up on RPI from current #61. Two sweeps would change that pretty dramatically and show continuing momentum heading into the tournament. But each game counts!

We match up well with Auburn, their pitching is, at best, middle-of-the-road, we should score some runs.

Big question, Auburn can swing the bat, we need pitchers (other than Miller, Jozwiak, Menefee) to step up.

A number of SEC teams have made the NCAA tournament with 17 regular season conference losses, but I don't think any have ever made it with more than 17.

And with a pretty mediocre non-conference resume, I don't think we're well-positioned to break that record.

If we sweep our way to 13-17...

2019 Florida was 13-17 and lost the opener in Hoover. They made it, but had an RPI of 27 on selection day.

2018 We were 13-17, made it in, but that was with the three wins at the SEC tournament and we went into selection day with an RPI of 15.

Kentucky was 13-17, lost the Hoover opener, and didn't make it with an RPI of 30.

2017: Missouri was 14-16, went 1-2 in Hoover. Not in with an RPI of 51. Ole Miss 14-16, 0-1 in Hoover. Not in with an RPI of 37. South Carolina 13-17, 3-2 in Hoover. Not in with an RPI of 32.

2016...no one 13-17.

2015...Auburn 13-17, 1-2 in Hoover. In with an RPI of 22. South Carolina 13-17, 0-1 in Hoover, not in with an RPI of 63.

In other words, really want to get the RPI into the top 20s, at worst.

This is mathematically impossible with our current rpi

Well, then we're in a pretty tough spot.

That's true even if we sweep the last two series and make a run at the SEC tournament?

I'm not sure. I know it's impossible to get there in the regular season.

13-16. Had a game against Alabama cancelled.

Auburn was 13-17, 0-1 in Hoover. Not in with an RPI of 42.

But yes. We did get with 13 regular season wins and a couple in Hoover. So there's some slightly more hopeful precedent.

That's the year we got flown to Corvallis as a sacrifice to Pat Casey.

Maybe so but what a great time we had in Corvallis.

Got frustrated and cancelled out our Auburn trip(twk is there) and missing being there today.

Oh well
