So what are they hoping will happen? The NCAA will change its mind about Omaha? That there will be a shortened regular season with no playoffs?

I think the only thing it would do is keep the guys active and possibly motivated. That and keep them in shape for summer ball. Probably avoid possible injuries this summer.

Depends. Listen to Kendall Rogers on Texags radio linked above. Lots of speculation on whether the NCAA will come back and make this a postponement rather than a cancellation, the potential for the folks in Omaha to have a non-sanctioned event (CFP isn't an NCAA event) and whether some conferences may just decide to play regardless. Lots of implications for the future of the NCAA. It's very early, but could we look back on this as the end of the NCAA? A lot of conference commissioners are very angry that the NCAA just blindsided them with canceling events in June, when all they had to do was go into a holding pattern. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out. It's a "so your saying there's a chance" type of thing, but there is a glimmer of hope that at least a few sports like baseball may be played.

It's a conference call so far. Now that the SEC has issued all practice discontinue until April 15, today would be the last day baseball can practice for a month.

and do it like they did in the 60's and early 70's.

only 16 teams made the postseason. There were 8 "district" 3-game series...and the 8 winners went to Omaha

Not any more, B12 has shut it down.
