In hitting. One of the most prestigious summer leagues for college players. He batted ninth for us. What does that tell you about our coaching

They must have prepared him well for Zach to be hitting 0.420.

Jozwiac sports the 5th best era in the league at 1.74

Where is DeLoach hitting in the batting order? Maybe he's in a spot that is really suited to his batting strengths.

Zach DeLoach, OF, Texas A&M (Falmouth Commodores)

DeLoach had a nice freshman campaign for the Aggies in 2018, hitting .264 with 18 extra base hits, before taking a step backward in 2019. He just never got it going this season after an impressive summer, hitting just .200 with a .612 OPS. But DeLoach is tearing up the CCBL, with hits in nine of his last ten games. He's currently leading the league with a .400 batting average over his first 60 at-bats and put up his first two-home run game of the summer on July 9.

More evidence that it wasn't just offensive talent that was lacking last year. Bolt was part of the problem.

Im happy that he is performing. Note that is all of 60 ABs...........

Lots of guys perform better when they're slumming, don't have to do schoolwork, or face SEC pitching. It's fun to play exhibition baseball for a few months, get out of the heat, and get away from the coaches and teammates. Has nothing to do with the next season... Just a nice diversion.

Janca did well in that league too.

Is the pitching there as good as SEC pitching?

2nd gen, it tells me you didn't watch the Ags much last year. Zach batted in the top of the order till he stopped hitting. You are so hung up on coaching you can't see facts for what they are.

Everybody's always talking about how smooth of a swing he has. I don't care how smooth of a swing he has if he can't hit an SEC pitcher to save his life. This is the second season in a row he's lit it up in summer league. Wish we had some of those game winning hits last year

And for some reason, Bolt just became a head coach.

It's not SEC Pitching that he's facing game in and game out. Glad that he's found his stroke, but we've had a good number of players tear it up in the Cape Cod and they come back to earth when they put on the Maroon & White and play in the SEC. Hope this can carry over as I hate to be negative.

I guess the baseball powers give no credit to Texas A&M fans knowledge of the game.

The Cape is littered with high end SEC, PAC-12, and ACC talent. Let's not act like he's beating up on crappy pitching. Some of the top pitchers play for team USA but leading the league in hitting is no small accomplishment. Looking at the starting pitcher for the last 5 games he's played in, he's faced:

Mizzou SEC
Va Tech ACC
Bama SEC
Texas Big12 (Zach had 4 hits against a guy that was projected to be a top 2 round pick out of HS)
Berkley PAC12

So on a dime he forgot everything Bolt ever taught him, picked up a new approach from his coaches in Cape, and is now a great hitter?

Someone would have to ask him what changed. But he is facing good pitching on a daily basis.

Nice notes about who he's faced. I'm hoping he can bring this back to Aggieland. We've had many guys tear up the Cape and come back to earth when the get back to Olsen. Maybe it's an indication in his AB approach that he doesn't get to use in College Station.

Hitting is almost entirely about feel and confidence at this level and hitters are making most of their adjustments themselves. Sometimes in-game between AB's or even during. A hot start can propel a talented kid like Deloach for an entire summer. Conversely, an early slump and some bad luck can ruin you in a college season (not really a huge sample of AB's).

Summer coaches roll the balls out and let them play. Nobody snapped their fingers and made him a more capable hitter in July than he was in February. He's capable of being an all conference hitter, but that doesn't mean he will be.

Im pretty sure the Cape has legitimate pitching prospects as do the Coastal Plains League, Northwoods. Alaska and Cali Collegiate league. Maybe DeLoach likes to hit and play daily versus weekend and midweek. Zgood to see him hitting nonetheless

Very interesting about Zach's stats. It seems he has definitely been feast or famine player in the Cape Cod League. Instead of long hitting streaks, seems he has a lot of 3 hit or 4 hit games and then lots of games with 0 hits. He did have a nice streak between July 6 and July 13.

For the season 20 of his 34 hits, came in 6 games

Really good summer for Zach . Hopefully he ironed out his sophmore slump issues . A big junior year for him would be great for the team and him personally ( MLB Draft )

Face it. The coaches didn't do anything for him and basically screwed his swing/mechanics up for a year. Good riddance sawdog.

Andy Sawyers' last year at A&M was 2014. You are telling me that he ruined DeLoach's swing when DeLoach was a freshman in high school?
