Watching Miss State and Southern Miss. Seriously, how long has Jake Mangum been at State?
Isn't he the one with the hot mom? If so, who cares?

as we discussed in the offseason...Childress is taking some risk this year with the non-conference schedule.

let's hope Fordham, UIC, and Gonzaga are decent this year. So far the trio is a sparkling 1-9 on the season
after this weekend...Fordham (2-5), UIC (1-5), and Gonzaga (2-6) are a combined 5-16

Fordham split a four game series with North Florida, which beat Florida on Wednesday, with one of the games they lost going 12 innings.

It really isn't any different than in years past. Those three slots last year, Rhode Island(2-4), Cornell (0-3), Long Beach (0-7), are a combined 2-14 so far this year.

Our scheduling is what it is and we can certainly have a discussion about it the pros and cons to it, but it isn't any worse than it was last year (and while having our best non-conference games away (Houston, Texas, DBU) or neutral (Houston, TCU, Baylor) sucks for season ticket holders, it actually helps our resume when it comes to RPI so in that sense the non-conference schedule is actually better than last year).

and the Ags barely slipped into the field of 64 last year too.

the pressure is on to win 2 of 3 at the MM Classic

Nobody had an issue with Long Beach State coming here last season until after their season went downhill and RI had a very good RPI for a non power five northern school

I have wanted a solid series against a name opponent for a while now but not on the first weekend but rather after the Frisco/MMP tourney. We need one against a solid ACC home and home and then maybe if we go to say North Carolina or something we can hit up a mid week game against a Coastal Carolina and maybe in return get them to come for a three same series

Did we barely slip into the field last year because of our non-conference schedule or because we finished 4 games under .500 in the SEC? Our non-conference RPI last year was 12. It was all those losses in SEC play that brought down our overall RPI.

Of course scheduling some tougher non-conference games and winning them could have helped, but scheduling some tougher non-conference games and losing them could have left us out too.

Exactly this, it was 13-17 league record (winning only three SEC series) that had the Ags on the bubble last year, not the "weak" non-conference schedule.
