I think you're probably right in a way. Except that I don't think there was ever going to be a search. I just don't think you can go away from this coaching staff and assistant yeskie who has put together their pitching staff for years.

What they built at osu was so out of nowhere that it seems unfathomable that they'd go away from that staff even without Casey.

Now if it falls off in 3 or 4 years...

Nice to see a coach with this approach when many coaches just hang on taking a big paycheck. Class guy.

Yep, this story would have gotten much bigger play if Casey retired just after the season. Odd timing but there seems to be no reason to doubt his reason for ending his career on the high note of last June.

For state/government jobs this is typical legalese, unless they go through the formal retirement protocol or take another position.
