Mississippi State trying to cut into our conference leading profit by making us pay more to keep our coach.

This isn't even an article, it's just a profile of RC and his opinion on why he would leave or stay. Go through his twitter and you'll see he has written this exact same thing for all the top coaches in the country. Nothing to see here.

the State job is one of those where the reputation and so forth has exceeded the actual reality.

this is not the 1980's and 90's

And yet, Jimbo Fisher is Texas A&M's football coach.

(No, I'm not saying RC is a serious candidate to leave for Mississippi State.)

Part of Jimbo leaving was that he was unhappy with FSU admin and boosters on facility issues. I haven't heard anything that makes me think RC is unhappy here (but I could be wrong). There were plenty of signs Jimbo wasn't.

For what it is worth, MSU has a thread on 247 about the hire (although half the comments you can't even read as they are behind a VIP login). RC's name is mentioned a few times but they pretty much agreed he wasn't leaving A&M and so they moved on.

Mostly, they seem to want McDonnell from Louisville. Most of them think he is in play although they disagree on their odds of getting him. Some even think their AD already has a handshake deal worked out with him that will be announced after the season ends. A couple mentioned that they hear he isn't happy with admin there (and of course MSU has much better facilities, tradition, etc.). He would obviously be a big get if they can get him. Other than their success on the field, I don't really know much about his situation there to know if he would be likely to jump.

They also mention Scholossnagle (TCU), Tadlock (tech), Johnson (Arizona), Thompson (Auburn) and Deggs (Sam) a few times too. Some of them don't think Scholossnagle or Tadlock are realistic while others think they might be.

Rob has represented the university very well. If he feels that he has maxed out here, i could see him leaving. MSU is historically a little better than us so its not a stretch. Dont think it will happen, but if he does leave, I'm sure Woodward would find a more than capable replacement.

There's a difference in MSU declaring their interest and some guy listing coaches.

Also....aggie 24/7 posts something from a 24/7 site as their only post ever...

The most interesting name on that list is Tadlock . He is a stud and doing it at Tech makes him even more attractive. They would not have to break the bank either. Just not sure their supporters would be in love with the hire ...... they think anyone they want is theirs. Probably will insist on someone familiar with the SEC or Region of the country ..... which Tadlock does not have.

Tadlock is a Tech alum

He isn't leaving

Also, Tech isn't a bad destination for baseball... plenty of talent in West Texas and DfW... good stadium and facilities, good fan support

It was unfortunate (for Tech, IMO) that the College Baseball HOF Museum plans were cancelled. Wasn't Tech's fault. City and CBB foundation just couldn't get it done...

In the middle of nowhere but once you're there it's a great college town... city of 300,000, plenty to do, and ass everywhere

It's not the wasteland we make it out to be

That said, football recruiting is very challenging

Meh

But I wouldn't be all that disappointed if he did

If Tadlock was offered the Miss st. Job he would be gone in a second. That is a top 5-10 job in the country and pays accordingly . Texas boy from Denton or not ...... you do not turn down that job.

Never said it's better or worse... just that it's good and not a detriment to recruiting
