Good to see Boomer up in the box talking baseball, but I'd rather see him in field playing baseball. Is he still with Padres organization? Anyone have an update on where or if he is playing this season?

Boomer was called up to California to High A and once called up got off to a great Start and fell off a bit , he then got injured for the 2nd time and it was very hard. Prior to his injury he was playing his best baseball. Once he was cleared to return to play , they said they wanted to send him back down to get some ABs before he came back up. This was very hard on him and did not set well. He went to the Padres and told them he did not want to go down ( as he is not hanging in the minors for long periods) and would rather play every 2nd or 3rd day getting ABs. They said they wanted him to go down and assured it would not be long to come back up , but that's never a guarantee. He did not like there answer and was not clear at all how they felt about him. He has a very very hard decision to stay or just leave. He made a decision to leave ( knowing he has A really Bright future in a lot of areas. ) Once he left on his own, the team put him on the suspended list hoping he would be back. He asked for his release and with some work he was able ti get it. He then had to make a decision on school or go to spring training with another team. I'm the mean time he immediately enrolled back in school. Spring training was not pushed at all as the kid is happier than I've seen him in a long tine. His education. Was very very high on his list knowing to make it to the show can take years which he was not going to gamble on and finsish his education ( like many others ) Years and years down the road. He is very close to the Aggie family and many coaches from not only A&M. Baseball was not who Boomer White is even though he was good at it. Baseball was what Boomer did ... this kid has such a bright future and what a great Aggie, who represents Aggie nation everywhere. I'm best friends with his uncle.
Maybe he could make a career out of it and we can get some better TV commentary!Wabs said:
I thought he was great in the booth today. This kid has a great future ahead of him no matter what he decides to do, that's for sure. He defines class and character, and I'm glad he's a Texas Aggie.

I'm going to go a bit against the grain here. I think Boomer is great at what he does and would be great on ESPN or SEC network as a neutral participant in announcing a game.
However, that's not what I'm looking for when there's a home feed to one of our games. I want a homer and Boomer must be auditioning because he's at best a neutral observer.
