he's pretending he's facing South Carolina
His minor league stats have been pretty good. Hopefully he gets a recurring shot at the bigs soon.
He hit .246 in AA Corpus Christi last year, with 7 home runs in just 37 games. Maybe with steady improvement he'll move up to AAA this year. But I don't see how he could be in a tougher organization as a middle infielder hoping to make the majors very soon.
We will be in West Palm Beach for a week in March and hoping Ryan is still there. Will take in five games. Gig'em!

yes, Birk is in a tough spot within the Astros organization.
if he has a good 1st half at AA...could see his name floated in trade deadline deals.
or the 'stros may hang onto him for another year just in case Altuve's free agent negotiations go poorly. (that's very unlikely however)

Still batting 1.000 for spring training and gets a walk today
It'll be interesting to see how many make it to the show from that 16' team.
Biggest problem at A&M, not good at turning the DP, wonder if that has improved?

He's set up perfectly for when the 'stros won't pay the eleventy billion dollars that Altuve deserves next year.
The guy replaces Altuve on the roster - whenever that will be - is not in an enviable position.

On the major league roster? There's no where for him to play
And he's only had 5 at bats in 13 games at spring training, he's far from being about to move up to the show...the Astros farm system is really deep, my guess is he'll be used in a trade somewhere down the line.
Astros must have cured Birk's uppercut swing. Kid has always had some pop.
