While the results weren't what we wanted, I had a wonderful experience going to Omaha for the first time and experiencing everything it had to offer. Four of us Raggies hit the road on Thursday evening to head towards the baseball holy land.

Our drive brought us to Auburn, NE where we discovered a tank and "Awesome Yankee Burritos." (Basically a hotdog with cheese and a fried tortilla wrapped around it.

Day one brought us some...interesting things including shirts and and interviews with the SEC network.

Day one was capped off by a wild storm.

Day two brought us much of the same shenanigans.

Day three was game day, and 203 North did their damnedest to help the Ags out.

Before we could leave, we of course had to stop by old Rosenblatt and blow bubbles at TD Ameritrade just one last time before hitting the road.

Overall, this was an amazing trip and I'd recommend it even on non-A&M years. For my first experience, I spent plenty of time getting to chat with players and family as well. I especially want to thank Corbin Martin's family and George Janca's family. They made us feel welcome over the whole weekend. Can't wait to go back there next year!

This was awesome. I miss those college days of road trips with my buddies. Those are still some of my favorite memories. We regret never making it to Omaha so that will need to move to number 1 on my bucket list. Thank you for sharing your trip with us.

I only made it up for the Sunday game, partly because I couldn't stay the whole week, and was afraid that if I drove up with the intention of only staying for two games, it would be hard to leave had we won. Tortured logic at its worst. I'm thinking about just making the trip to Omaha for the first week whether the Ags are in it or not.

I travel to a lot of football games, but baseball road trips are the best. For folks that haven't been to any other SEC venues, I highly recommend that you try to make a road series next year. Being in Starkville to see us sweep MSU last year, and being in Baton Rouge for Walker Pennington's stunning game winner were great experiences. This next year, we will have road trips to Fayetteville and Starkville, which are comparatively easy drives--the only downside for Starkville next year is that their park will be under construction, so I'm not sure what that will mean for the fan experience (left field lounge will be gone--glad I saw it last time).

There is no sporting experience like the College World Series.
It was one of the best weeks of my life.
Baseball fans are the best fans. Omaha is an incredible city. Everyone is so nice.

Awesome pics!

Still AMAZING to me that some posters on TexAgs call road trips like this a waste of money ...

These type of experiences are why I miss the 6-team regionals. You had lots of slow times to get to hang out and visit with other teams / fans.

Couldn't agree more. Away SEC baseball series are my favorite Aggie thing. And Omaha and the CWS are always awesome. Sorry I did not meet you Captain.

Great thread! Saw that tank in Auburn, but failed to stop for (or even think of) the photo op! Or the "Yankee burrito".

Agree about the "fun-ness" of Omaha. Because there are so many teams/fan bases there (rather than just two rivals, determined to beat the other), everyone shares an optimism about their team's chances to win it seems.

Sadly, I tend to spend an inordinate amount of time at the casinos. It was good to see the team unwinding at the Horshoe blackjack tables after the game. They earned it! While it's hard not to experience disappointment, this team over-achieved and made Aggies proud! Thanks for the ride guys!!!

And thanks for the tix, derm!

So glad you guys made it! Love the pics! I too went. Drove by myself and got home last night to see my youngest play. Over 1800 miles and it was a blast! Stayed with the Amish in Kansas on Friday, visited a 650-ft underground salt mine, met a ton of awesome Ags including dermdoc and some guy and his son sleeping in their awesome Aggie van in the Old Market. And even got a nice visit with Coach Mark Johnson one day. Great times!

Who is this "dermdoc" guy? Does he even exist? Sounds flamboyant, yet I never saw him at Lefty's just across from the Park.

He sounds like the kind of guy who would have a better stash in his suite than Lefty's would have for sale.

Or so his posts would indicate, but the word is that he stayed in a dump with no running water. He "bummed" showers from Corbin's folks. HIOGA!

Great post Captain, we always look for you on TV. Hell I even took my shoe off at work for Shew's last at bat. I asked on another thread, how do you acquire the section 203 patch? Absolutely love it

Guilty as charged on all accounts. I did cut the "grinder" factor down by making Boerne sit next to us.

Given they were primo seats (and in the shade), it was an easy call.

You woulda liked "Lefty's". I met my future daughter-in-law there.

That young lady was not as impressed with a couple of Texans as the Texans were with her.

Not. Even. Close.

I am having Nosh withdrawals. They treated us like kings and gave us free wine, vodka, and appetizers. It was a daily afternoon experience. And the best dirty martinis I have ever had.

Pretty sure they weren't "free", but you know that.

Wish I'd done likewise. Dirty martinis woulda been much less expensive than the tables turned out being.

Ask Hoop or Monty what they cost. You need to hang with me more.

I produced the patches myself! I need to re-order them because I just ran out!
