Went back and checked. Foul ball into the ground, back up to catcher for the cup check. Looked painful.
Pretty common for catchers and umps to stall a bit for the other when one gets hit.
Can I go ahead and say "if you hit with it, you should run with it"? I get tired of people complaining about the pace of play and then every time someone gets on base we have to take off shin guards, take off arm pads, take off elbow guards... And heaven forbid it's a double because then the coach has to walk all the way to 2nd base to retrieve all this BS. If you wear it to hit, you have to keep wearing it.
