Will be interesting to see how the LSU-UF series plays out this weekend. Lot of talent on that field between both teams, and Florida will be pissed after being swept last weekend. I'd be happy with 2 out of 3. If Florida's hitting struggles continue, we have a good chance. Good Alex Lange needs to show up for us against Faedo tomorrow.

If Florida loses the series, their SEC title hopes might be over before they really begin. There are a lot of great teams at the top of this league, and a four or five game deficit might be insurmountable, even after just two weeks.

yes, this seems like a must-win series, if the Ags hope to finish above .500 in the league. A&M has played very well against Vanderbilt since joining the league

It's safe to say JP Sears has VMI's number. Almost exactly one year after he struck out 19 Keydets in a game, Sears outdid himself Friday night, tying a school record with 20 punchouts in The Citadel's 3-0 win against VMI. Sears went the distance, firing a two-hit shutout and walking two in the first complete game of his career.

The junior lefthander pitches comfortably at 88-91 mph and touches 92, and he got the Keydets to chase his high heater over and over again Friday. His breaking ball was a killer against lefties, and he spotted his changeup expertly against righties. In 42.1 innings this season, Sears is now 4-1, 1.70 with 63 strikeouts against just seven walks. As a lefthander with good feel for three pitches, he was already a legitimate draft prospect, but Friday's outing surely gives his stock another boost.

so to wrap things up...the Ags improved from #78 to #70 in Warren Nolan's RPI as a result of the action in Nashville over the weekend.

if A&M wins 1 game at #23 RPI LSU, the Ags should gain another 10 to 15 spots in RPI.

Of course at some point the conference record becomes a bigger problem that the RPI ranking

We've put ourselves in a position to have to root like hell for TCU, Baylor, Texas and Tech to beat the snot out of the rest of the Big 12 as well as win all of their Tuesday games. Anything to help our strength of schedule and subsequently our RPI. Wouldn't hurt for Rice to feast on the C-USA weaklings and get their overall record somewhere near respectability. And Pepperdine is killing us...only 11-11 right now and just had a 1-3 week losing to Fresno State and Pacific (x2).
