Homan should be benched today. Even if just to clear his mind. It was bad enough going 0-6 against a mediocre team, SFA, including blowing two chances to win the game. Those are all physical mistakes. But to follow that disappointment up by getting picked off TWICE in the same game, with one being at 2nd base as the tying run w/ no outs in the 8th inning- that is unfathomably poor for any player, let alone a senior. Again, he should not play today, give him a mental break. He needs it.

We lost yesterday, our season is over. Now we won't be in consideration for the BCS title game.

And our season could be worse:

Quote:

4. Coastal's Beckwith Has Rough Start

Hopefully this doesn't become a consistent trend, but Chanticleers Preseason All-American righthander Andrew Beckwith had another performance to forget in an ugly 22-9 loss to West Virginia. Beckwith came out of the bullpen last weekend, but was moved back into the starting rotation against the Mountaineers. He's had better days. Beckwith allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 14 hits in just 3.1 innings. Meanwhile, West Virginia's offensive surge was led by Darius Hill and Jackson Cramer. Hill had four hits and a home run, while Cramer had a monster day, collecting five hits and a home run and knocking in six runs.
Coastal Carolina which started the season ranked #11 on D1 is now 3-4 on the season

Yep

I'm not arguing the point, but baseball guys (need Minks here): does this actually work? The kid knows he ****ed up. Does sitting let him "clear his mind" or stew on it such that he develops a mental block for some period. I really don't know.

I think it depends on the kid. Some can be motivated like that while others wither and do worse. Being pulled in and out of the line up is harder on younger guys.

all right, need the bats (and the seniors) to show up today.

looking for a minimum of 3 x-base hits from the lineup and a maximum of 1 baserunning blunder.

that shouldn't be too much to ask for

it's been a rough week for the offense...

so far thru 30 innings of baseball vs. SFA & Pepperdine...A&M has only held the lead at the end of 10 of those 30 innings.

and only had a 2-run or greater lead at the end of just 2 of those 30 innings. Really putting tons of pressure on the pitching staff and defense

Well, I'd think the approx. 20 hours between games would be enough time for him to "clear his head".

Benching him is clearly just punishing him...so you can do that, or let him play through it. Homan hit .301 against the SEC and .356 overall last year. So you know the potential is there. Removing him adds another freshman to the lineup, and a handful of them went 0-fer yesterday too. I think letting him try to get his bat going is pretty important for the rest of the season.
