These early games provide the opportunity to get the newcomers and bench players some playing time. Such was the case today as the Aggie Softball team had a comfortable lead over SFA with our pitcher in full control. Having 12Ks in the game and an 8-1 lead going into the last inning, L Smith was well on her way to win #3 for the season. Coach had cleared the Aggie bench and what could go wrong?

How about 6 runs on 5 hits and a basket full of walks to put a scare into the a Aggies who finally squeezed out a 8-7 victory for their 8th win of the season? We finished with 13 Ks but gave up 11 walks and 11 hits.

Having had 7 good pitching outings in a row, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we would experience an off day. However, to make the NCAA playoffs every victory (and loss) counts. Need to be careful and not get complacent when we get an early lead.

Florida State should be ranked #1 this week with Florida losing over the weekend...if not #2. They are 10-0
Arizona State is 9-0
BYU is 5-2...their only loses to Auburn and OU
Michigan is 6-3 and not as potent as they were the last 2 years due to a talent rich senior class lost but no walk in the park

I'm excited to see this team play some high level competition. The defense thus far is playing with confidence and rest assured Gerry will have the bats studied up...just need the execution.
