Yes, Sampson made impermissible calls, but the dude is a stud coach. He's also built the program back up with transfers

6'11 C from UConn Josh Carlton
6'4 SG from Texas Tech Kyler Edwards
6'5 G from Cal State-Bakersfield Taze Moore

Looks like Carlton played a little bit more than Aggie pickup Javonte Brown.

Sampson has a good thing going at UH, not surprised he's having success in the portal. Regarding the two Uconn big men

Josh Carlton is also 4 years older. He was a class of 2017 recruit. Javonte Brown was a class of 2021 recruit who reclassified to 2020.

So while the Carlton played more in the very short time they were on the same team, it's very difficult to compare the two as prospects, especially considering Javonte has 4 years of eligibility remaining (should he choose to play CBB that long) while Carlton has just one year left. And frankly, the last two years Carlton has put up some underwhelming stats.

If I was choosing between the two, I'd rather have the guy with more upside/more playing time left.

wasn't comparing, just saying that one of the reasons why Brown didn't play more was that Carlton was getting the backup minutes at center.

to be clear, he lied about it.

but, "most of the rules he blatantly violated are no longer NCAA violations, an amendment that makes it more complicated to condemn Sampson in the present."

It wasn't like he made just a couple. He made 550 illegal calls. That led to a bad on his recruiting except for kids visiting the school. But he ignored the ban and kept making illegal calls. So he didn't even stop once he got caught cheating. He is easily one of the 5 biggest cheaters ever in college basketball and probably top 3. Doesn't mean he isn't also a good coach.

I'd love to money whip Sampson, and not have to worry about winning at Men's Basketball for awhile

Buzz is in the weeds so deep he has no idea what to do or how to get out of them. It's scary how this is going for Buzz. Great hire, great man, thought to be a great fit but his image is more important than his coaching and recruiting

I hope he turns it around A&M is an amazing school with terrible b-ball facilities

Didn't say he was Bad. He is wildly inconsistent and lacks power to finish in the paint. Good defender and rebounder......

He was replaced with Chandler Jacobs out of DBU. Jacobs will be even better as a True PG....he can score, facilitate and was the conf Defensive POY.
